Alarms Anyone?

Shopping for aftermarket alarms (possibly w/remote start) for my soon-to-be-delivered 6th gen. Any suggestions/warnings/advice? I'd love to retain the factory fobs as my experience is that they outlast any of the aftermarket fobs included with alarms.

If you want to keep the stock FOB's your best shot is to ask your dealer if they can install an alarm for you and keep the FOB's working.

There's already an alarm on the car, with starter kill. There's nothing the dealership can add that's not already there in regards to an alarm. In fact, there's really no sense in adding an aftermarket alarm at all. You can have remote start added to the factory alarm and use the panic button for the remote start. If the person installing the alarm says he can't do that...LEAVE, because they don't know what their doing. Any quality professional installer can add remote start using your factory fob.

True on most counts. The Max does have a factory alarm, but it is lacking a few features that I desire such as siren with arm chirp(as opposed to horn toot), shock/motion sensor, glass breakage detector, and remote paging when alarm activated. I work in an area where my vehicles are left vulnerable to break-in and body damage by other vehicles. I caught a guy who had just nailed my 3mo old Intrepid with his F350 door (leaving a 3" crease) once and got him to pay for the damage. This, thanks to my alarm with shock sensing and remote paging .

I do like the idea of using the "panic" button for remote start feature! I've never a reason to use the panic button on any key fob I've ever owned. My wife uses it to find her car, but I usually remember where I put mine

I have this viper alarm. It has remote start and if the alarm goes off it will show you whats going on on the LCD display on the remote. And it works up to 1/4 mile

What causes the factory alarm to go off.. If it doesn't have a shock sensor but does have a starter kill, is it just opening the doors without the keyfob??
