Dash install kit for '04 max

I have the bose system in my car and while it's decent and I've added a few touches I would really like to install my alpine after market head unit that I had in my old max. Does anybody know of a company selling radio install kits for the 04 max yet? I tried Scosche but they don't have anything available as of yet.

It would be a pretty big and expensive piece if it ever gets made. You'd also lose the all the radio related screen functions, so it probably would display something wierd.

Just go to someone and have them do some custom dash work. Install it in the smalll compartment under the tapoe deck. or if you dont use the tape deck then just have them take it out.

If you have Navigation, that blocks the DVD drive, and it also wouldn't be deep enough to hold a head unit. You could probably modify the panel though, like you said, and replace the tape deck, as long as you weren't afraid of cutting the piece. It shouldn't be a big deal, as long as you don't scratch the surface, which is easily done. (You'd want to tape it off before you cut)

If you have navigation, though, I'd imagine it would take a lot of tinkering and finess to get everything to work right.

I spoke to scoshce and they said that they are in the process of developing an install kit for the 04 max, I normally wouldn't bother but I like my music and really loved my alpine head unit. right now I have my amplifiers connected via high output converters but that's not an Ideal way to amplify your sound, also the factory radio distorts at higher sound levels and that really irritates the crap out of me. I hope that someone comes up with something, I really don't want to have to cut the dash.

I have about $5000 worth of speakers/amplifiers in my max and I also had to use the crappy high/low converters which really decrease the sound quality. Anyone know if the blowse radio use some kind of a propreritary output that we could tap into?

My bose cd changer has been messing up on me lately. seems like when I first start the car up the cd will cut out and then the player starts making a bunch of noise and keeps cutting in and out. eventually the player will start to play the cds in it but cuts out when it feels like it. Im hoping a aftermarket dash kit will come out that allows me to change the cd player because this thing is nothing to brag about.

if you have a bose sytem in ur car and yr goin to put in a aftermarket radio your better off changing all the speakers as well because they will never sound the same w/o the bose headunit
If you don't have the nav an aftermarket radio fits perfectly in that pocket I even had it so that I could close the door and it stayed hidden put my alpine in there b4 i started making my new dash.I'm in the process of making a new center dash to hold my alpine deck and the OEM screen.

Cannon,

I have pulled out most of the factory speakers already, I have JL Audio XR650 components in the front and Memphis Car Audio 12" HPO's in a custom enclosure in the rear. The only things connected as far as factory speakers go are the 8's mounted under the rear deck and I'll pull those out when I replace the factory HU with some good 6x9's for rear fill. Can you post some pictures of the install you did, I would like to see them to see if they give me some ideas.

Is it an alpine AV headunit? I knolw BLOWSE stinks but if you want to get video just call up www.nav-tv.vom and get one of their kits I had my navi modified this week and besides from some tiny glitches ( bad circuit board) I think they have a great product. all you do is flip a switch and you navi screen cuts out and turns into dvd or whatever else you want.

No it's not an AV HU, it's just a CD/MP3 player but one of their best. I really miss having this baby installed.

I would not reccomend doing that. 1. With a properly built and tuned front sound stage rear fill is useless at best, and distracting at worst. 2. Every 6x9 I've heard did not sound good. 3. You'd have to modify the rear deck to fit a 6x9, and it still would not fit properly.

Actually that's not true, I have removed the rear deck and the layout and screw holes for 6x9's is their. I guess they place them their becuase the non-bose systems don't come with 8" drivers in the rear. I actually prefer a slight rear fill effect, it benefits the passengers in the rear.

I had the same problem with my cd changer after I'd had the car for about two weeks.

Called the service manager - they had a quick look and replaced the entire unit.
The new one has been working just fine. An added note: Personally I find the Bose system is fine. Might be a function of age though!!!

You might want to get back in touch with your dealer. I've had great service experiences to date.

Good luck!

Rob
