Ran better times, slip inside....

Well I went to the track today. I removed the spare and jack and played with the tire pressure. Ran 40 psi in the rear and around 29 in the front. temps were in the 60s. Heres the best time of the day:

60ft. - 2.033
1/8 - 9.301
MPH - 76.52
1/4 - 14.397
MPH - 96.58

Just a few questions...

1) What type of 6th gen MAX ran these times? 5sp-AT or 6MT?

2) Is all that you mentioned above the only "mods" you made to run these times? (i.e., I've heard of people removing their air filter completely on site)

3) What about the most important time--your 0 to 60 time? Low or high 6s?

Thanks!

Well the weather was around 62 and low humidity. pretty good conditions. I should be getting my Injen this week and will go back to see how if my times change any. anyways I was stunned to have pulled that time. I went there just hoping to run a 14.6. My first run was a 14.7 with a 2.3 60ft. Second run was a 14.7 with a 2.4 60ft. After these 2 I lower pressure down to 29 psi and nailed the launch. Barely any wheelspin at all. The race was against a GTP by the way, apparently modded. I am very impressed with the cars performance at this point. When I pulled on the interstated I ran into a LT Vette which was very ironic because I NEVER find anyone to run outside of the track. We went from about 75 to 120 and he pulled about a car the whole time. Not to bad for my family sedan.

PS: no traffic in front of us at the time of the quick run.

Key difference you are an auto running those times he's a manual, once he gets it together a little better his times should drop a tad. Yours are about as good as you will get with an auto stock Max this also tells ya since 02 the auto Max ahas closed the gap in performance alot.

The date issue could one of two things:

1) He's lying and is using someone else's slip

or

2) The timing equipment was wrong.

I'm going with #2 because I've seen this sort of thing three times now when I've gone to the track and I doubt he'd go through the hassle of stealing a slip. When it's happened to me, the date is wildly wrong (ex Aug 85, 2105)

All my other friends are puds with slow cars that they wont take to the track so I didnt steal anyones slips. Hallsville always has some kinda technical problem, it isnt the best track in texas but its the closest to me. But yeah that slip is from yesterday, I have 2 others with my 14.7 runs that I have not put up online yet, I figured nobody would care to see em since they are the slower ones.

I like option 2 better too. I'm just surprised he isn't being slapped for it. Maybe the place is starting to calm down a little. I wouldn't post it in the 1/8-1/4 forum though. Too bad.

Well I consider myself a good driver but I dunno if that explains it. Could be the 245/45s. thats a lot of rubber. Or possibly the 6th gen is making more tq than the previous model maxima. GTPs pull 2.0s and 1.9s yanno.

You have HLSD? I don't, but unless I get all jiggy with the pedals the damned thing leaves hard!

I'm gonna try to get back to the track next week. It's supposed to rain this week in Houston. The temperatures was gonna be great, if the rain would've held off.

You did make sure they gave you the correct slip, right (car #6) I do find it amazing that you went from 2.3-2.4s to a 2.0. That's huge leap and what's even more incredible is that you yanked a 2.0 with FWD. Most guys on drag radials can only hope for 2.0s. GTPs pull 1.9-2.0 because they make massive lowend torque and that amount of torque is something even the 3.5 VQ can't touch. A GTP running a mild 3.4" pulley, CAI, and PCM will put down around 270fwtq.

Yes, they gave me the right slip. I was car six because I remember cleaning the number 6 off of 3 spots of my car. The run was against a GTP that ran a 14.1, It was pretty close.

My one and only run was 14.7 and I lost the slip. But, next week I'll try to go and take a picture of my car and the slip with the new Digital camera I got for Christmas.

Seems like the 6G is clearly establishing itself to be marginally quicker than the 5.5G.
