Winter Tire Question!

Hi From Montreal,

Can someone please help me? My dealer told me that my relatively new winter tires 205/60/16 with new 16 inch steel rims and new hub caps will not fit on my new Max 04 SL Canadian version (fully equiped). Is this true and if so what does? It seems unusual that a 16 inch wheel will not fit (brake caliper interferance is what they said). They used to fit on my previous Max 2k2.

Thanks for the help!

You may e-mail me at janinefs@sympatico.ca if you prefer.

This is true. The smallest wheels possible are 17" due to the larger front brake rotors.

Steel rims (17") are available here in Canada. I have a set with Goodyear Ultra Grip winter tires. There is a low cost alloy wheel and winter tire package for the 04 Maxima being sold at www.tiretrends.com out in Alberta/BC? Shipping was supposed to be fairly reasonable and you don't pay sales tax so it doesn't cost much more than buying a steel wheel package here in Ontario.

There is a dealership in Montreal selling a steel wheel package for $1199. I forget which dealership it was. I could find out if you really need to know.

Spinelli Nissan
Pointe Claire (PQ)

Rims, Toyo tires and hubcaps, $1199.

When I called them in Nov. they had them in stock. Mounted, balanced and ready to go out the door.

Don't forget we're in Canada. If we bought them at Tirerack, after we ship them across the border and pay the shipping, brokerage fees, and taxes its going to be closer to $2000CDN.
