Greetings mattman, I replied to the PM but just now read your thread. Due to not owning my 04 Max any longer I don't frequent this board very often.. Sorry to see your still having issues. If you want to dump the car like I did do what the other two gentlemen above suggested - get a lemon law layer and go that route. I got lucky, but using a layer is the only way to ensure a positive outcome, both overall and monetarily for you.

As for your issues, is the front thumping from/stemming from the vibration? Both from my own diagnosis and from a separate source,,, I know the rotors on the front as well as axles have been found to be poorly manufactured and badly out of round/balance. I ran into an old coworker who has a relative owning a Nissan dealer. That dealer, due to numerous complaints of shimmy and vibration, took it upon themselves to replace and/or balance both front axles and all four rotors with aftermarket "non Nissan" parts. They eliminated the shimmy/vibration. Why Nissan completely refused to even look at this on my car leaves me to believe they knew they had a problem and did not want to reveal the scope of the issue. Regional reps, factory Tech reps, they all looked at/drove my car commenting on the severity of the vibration - but returned after only re-balancing the tires with a "normal" verdict... I feel sorry for the women thats driving that Max today.... I was told about two weeks ago that it was finally being re-sold:-( ...

One car and four months of "stupid" (for lack of a more suitable word) service and Nissan support, Nissan has lost a life long family customer and numerous others... Every car manufacturer has issues, its how they handle them that counts. Currently, Nissan is at the bottom of my list. I even had my mind and wallet ready to drop $42K on a loaded Armada for the wife last October... We recently shopped elsewhere.

I wish you the best

KJSmitty,

Thanks for the information. What is the name of this dealership and where is it located? I would like to talk to someone in their service department about this problem. I have a shimmy problem that is minimized by careful balancing, but it never goes completely away. Thanks in advance.

It was an Atlanta dealership but not sure which one... The next time I see him I will ask - along with a good POC.

Thanks. I'm only 2 hours away, so I can stop by the dealership the next time I'm visiting Atlanta.
