maxima wheels gone, need help.

so on monday i come out of my house and i see my car standing on crates with no wheals. I called the insurance company they said that they will tow it to an allstate shop and that way i dont need an adjustor, i said fine, but now i am a little concerned about the fact that i have this other shop fixing my maxima thats on lease, and i dont know how the nissan warranty works, should i have towed it to the dealership? can anyone shed some light?

I wouldn't worry about warranty. How exactly are they going to "tow" it?

They dragged it onto a flatbed? They will replace rotors, exhaust system and whatever else just so an adjuster won't have to drive to your house? Unbelievable! I wouldn't go for that. You get wheels and lug nuts, have tires mounted, take it all home and bolt them to your car. I'd drive it straight to the dealer and have the bottom side examined for damage.

i understand that but when your car is vandilzed + you take it to a non nissan shop even if it is an allstate authorized shop, + i tell the nissan people that the car was dragged up on the tow truck wont they say that i should have gone to them from the beggining.

Neither the wheels or tow damage will be covered by warranty. Nissan can't force you to have your car worked on at a Nissan dealer. They won't pay warranty claims for work done by another shop but that isn't an issue here.

I'd want the Nissan dealer to inspect the bottom of the car to see if you have another claim with Allstate for damage to the undercariage.

You are not required to have any work done at a nissian dealership. Nissan has no body shops. Dealerships that have bodyshops are not any better then any other body shop, it's just another way for them to steal your money.

If you were to have it towed to the dealership that doesn't have a body shop. You know what they'd do? They'd tow it to a private body shop and have them fix it. Then they'd get a discount on the work, and charge you more then that private shops full price.

Sort off topic, but did you have the wheel locks when your wheels got stolen?

Wheels locks will only slow down thieves. If they really wanted your wheels, they will steal them.

I would never allow a tow company to "drag" my wheel-less car onto a flatbed. If I had to, I'd just get a set of 16" steel wheels/tires from a junkyard and THEN drive it to the shop. Who knows what damage (besides the brakes) caused by the car being transported this way.

Dragging is actually pretty common. It doesn't cause much damage. Hell, I've seen cars that have lost a wheel going down the freeway, slide to a stop, and all that needed to be done was a new rotor and control arm.

I would have never let them take it....I would have filed a police report first and then I would have been calling buddies to loan me some wheels so that I could take it to the dealer. The criminals were nice enough to put it on crates so that is where you should have left it until you got some wheels to put on. In the case of wheel theft, never ever let someone tow your car.
