Yakima Roof Racks Available Now!

I was checking the Yakima site and found that they now make a rack to fit the 04 Max.

For those of us with an existing Yakima rack from a different vehicle all we need are the new Q Clips to get the Q Towers fitted to the vehicle. Q Clip #119 is the new part number. Obviously required are the 4 Q Towers and 2 48" bars.

While the OEM Nissan rack is nice and low profile (and cheap), the Yakima racks are much more useful as they have a multitude of attachments available, go on and off more quickly and are a better build quality.

Hope this helps someone. I've got my new Q Clips on order!

CM.

Thule has square bars. With the curvature of the roof at each end they may not end up horizontal. Thats the downside of Thule. Yakima round bars compensate since you can rotate the attachments to make them level together.

Interestingly enough, Nissan North America is one of the listings on the Yakima web site under the "Where To Buy" tab.

I live in Yakima, the town that Yakima racks started in.

I bought the OEM one in August. It is in no way made by Yakima.

I wouldn't argue that with you. I just thought it was a curiousity.

Could be that they've switched suppliers for their OEM racks. I know Ford has used Yakima racks for quite some time. Just rebaged with a Ford logo.

I'll be the dealership tomorrow and I'll ask them about it. They should have a current accessory catalog.
