2005 - 2006 Changes?

The steering wheel will be replaced by electrical contacts that strap to your head and allow you to turn by simply thinking about it. The SE will have hydraulic rams that permit it to vault over as many as 3 cars (or one large truck) to assist in navigating through heavy traffic. These will be optional on the SL.
The SL model will be able to float on navigable waterways, and can attain speeds up to 30 knots with a full passenger load (and in calm waters). There are rumors the SE will have flight capabilities, but this hasn't yet been confirmed.
Other details are sketchy, but '05 looks to be an exciting year for the Maxima.
Nah, I'm just kidding. None of this is true.

Although things move fast these days, and the competition is stiff, I don't expect any significant changes for the '05 Maxima.
Traditionally, there have been very few changes for the second year of any Maxima generation. For example, the 1986 Maxima (2nd year of 2nd gen) had a high-mounted brake light as the only change from the '85. Similarly, the 2nd year editions of other generation Maximas have usually had few changes.
There is the possibility the engine may be tweaked to 275 or 280, simply to overstep the TL (which went from 260 to 270 to overstep the Maxima).
Sometimes a new color or two will be added, and a color or two could be dropped. But as two (Smoke and Coral Sand) were just added early this month, even the colors may stay the same.
I would be surprised by any major changes with the '05.
The '06, however, will (as has the 3rd year of most Maxima generations) have styling tweaks and mechanical changes. There is even the possibility of an AWD Maxima at that point, although that is more likely in '08. I don't see turbocharging or supercharging in Maxima's future; they serve no real purpose on a FWD vehicle with a powerful engine.
I would love to be a 'fly on the wall' in Nissan planning sessions . . .
