My first problem with Nissan

OK,

About 3 weeks ago at 11:30PM, I got ran off the road by an 18 wheeler that kept going. When I was run off the road I hit a curve and busted my front rim, busted the shock, and Screwed up the back tire all on the passenger side of the car.

Well, I took my car to the dealership on a Monday morning and called the claim in to my insurance company. They sent a adjuster out and gave them approval to do all the work. Before he went to the dealership I had the service folks give me an estimate, which they said was about $3K in damage. Nothing happened to the body, just the mechanical things underneath.

It's now been 2 and a dayum half weeks and these clowns at David McDavid are giving me this crap about a wheel bearing being on back order. Like they have stopped production in Smryna, Tn. What kinda dumb crap is that? I went down to see if the car had been worked on and they had it all in place. But, I could tell that the back wheel was out of wack by just looking at it.

My question is this. Why wouldn't these idiots order all the parts that could possibly be wrong with my car when they first did the estimate? It isn't like I have a 1986 Maxima. I mean, they are bound to have someone come in with a problem similar to mine later on down the line, so why is it such a problem to order everything and keep what they don't use in stock?

Every week I get this crap about "We had to order this and that" but they still don't have my car fixed. I'm truly getting tired of this crap and if it prolongs past Friday, I'm never going to purchase another Nissan in my life.

To think, I love this car but this service thing is beyond sad.

BTW, did I forget to say that I always have to call them to ask where they are with my car? I sure miss my first service rep. He transferred up to Tom Peacock Nissan. Dude was the best Rep I've ever had and he always told me the truth about what was going on with my car. I'm ****ed!!!

Well, you can always call Nissan Customer Service and see if you can get a fire lit under someone. The number is in your owner's manual. Several people have reported good luck going that route.

Since I don't have the car which the manual is located in, could someone post the number to Customer Care?

Thanks! I wouldn't be surprised if you had that number memorized. Seeing how so many folks have complaints about stuff on the board.

Love the car, hate the service!

OK,

Called Nissan.... I was told that they have two departments. 1) Repair and 2) production. The production parts are theirs and the repair parts can't be taken from production to send to dealers. They have to order their own parts. So, there was a back order on the part that I needed but they say that it was two weeks ago.

What kind of sense does this make? You have the parts in production, but in order for you to keep producing cars you will not send out parts for vehicles that need repair from that department. So, once you've bought the car you are screwed for weeks at a time waiting on them to send parts to the dealer.

It isn't like I have an older car that was produced years ago and parts are rarely needed. This car is a 2004! They've been producing them for a little over a year and I still get this kind of crap? What have I bought myself into?

I don't understand why they didn't give you a loaner. I've been dealing with nissan for a while and they've always given my wife and I a loaner if they've had to do anything even for a day. you need to raise the BS flag with the dealership and tell them that if they don't do something about it quickly they'll lose your business for good. If that doesn't work just call the corporate office and complain to them, I'm sure they'll do something about it especially when it comes to their money that the service guy is playing with.

Magically this morning after I called Nissan Customer Service and gave them the part number Friday. My part for my car shows up at the dealer. My car is said to be ready tommorrow after they clean it up for me and make sure the alignment is correct.

If only I had called and beyotched 2 weeks ago.... this is sad.

Well, I hope everything works out for you MaximumMike! Trust me, I'm sure we all have gone through some type of 'toil and trouble' such as yours once or twice in our lives. Don't get me wrong, IT SUCKS!!! I feel you there. But I think your insurance company should have gotten you into a rental @ least. Did you ask your insurance company about rental reimbursement? Just curious...

Also, let us know how they did on the repairs... Does it look/ride the same?

it depends on the dealer as to whether or not you get a loaner. My dealer will give loaners if you have a warranty issue. I have never heard of any body shop or dealer paying for a loander where the damage isn't their fault... That said they should re-imburse for at least some of the extended time you were stuck renting a car while they sat and twiddled their thumbs.
