The slowness of this site

The forum has really been draggin' lately. Is it server capacity? Do we need a new HDD? A faster processor? Fewer archived posts?

If it's something we can help with, we could probably get up a donation drive. I have a 3Mbps DSL connection and this site is like going back to AOL dialup.

I agree--seems like it's always been slow but it's worse lately.

I agree! I've gained more than my fair share of knowledge here, and would gladly kick in to help it all run more efficiently. That being said, as a former Prez of a national car club, I can tell you from experience that what is probably needed most is the "human" end of things. Web folks tend to have their hands full with their real jobs, and club sites have to take a back seat to that. Having multiple skilled webmasters to oversee things is usually what is needed.

Perhaps this is why the "donation" option went away here. There's no worse feeling than taking donations that you need, but don't have the human resources to act with.

You hit the nail on the head.

I made a suggestion awhile back about how to alleviate pressure and whatnot, but it just rolled off the first feedback/suggestion page, never to be seen again. Read it here if your interested. The idea as a whole is over the top, but even if some of my points were put into effect, I think the org would run alot smoother.

It used to bug me a little. Now I just look at it as part of the charm of the place.
