Actually I hope nobody proceeded to replace their 4100k bulbs, the misconception of "upgrading" to anything higher than 4100-4300k you'll be downgrading lumens (brightness) for more color and trust me its not worth it. The 2k4 Max comes equipped with Stanley projectors which output so much color and flicker they're absolutely stunning. Plus wait a year for the 4100k bulbs to color shift, mine have and not only will they look more blue/purplish in color but the amount of lumens being outputted will always outperform any bulb 6000k or higher.

I used to have 99 honda prelude, and had Philips 6000k Ultinon bulbs with Philips
Ballasts. I would say those were brighter than my 04 max's HIDs.

did yours really change in color and light output? I wish mine changes too...
mines are little yellowish...

Well I guess it all depends on what kind of projectors your 99 honda prelude had, my point is that most if not all oem bi-xenon setups with 4100k-4300k bulbs will outperform when it comes to brightness than a 6000k bulb. Higher Kelvin = more color (blue) - less lumens.

Plus you state that your lights look yellow? Are you sure that you have HID's? I've seen alot of SE's with Halogen's instead of HID's.

To answer your question yes my bulbs color shifted a while ago and now displays more of bluish/purplish light, pretty similar to the BMW's that have the same intensity.

Has anybody located a replacement for the HIR2 (9012) bulb used in the conventional max headlight. I have not found a HID replacement other than completely swaping the oem houseing out.. I have found many HID replacement kits for the Fog lamps (H3).

Does anybody know if the 9012 base is the same as another light?

Also I have heard the 9012 is a very short bulb so clearence issues may be present.

I've changed mine to PIAA 9006 (Xtreme White Plus Bulb), and have to say that it was the worst investment I've made for my car. Yes, it was only $60, but I could've gotten something more valuable, like half year worth of air freshners...

Definitely the stock headlights are better than other aftermarket bulbs, unless you're going to swap the whole HID system IMO.

Where can you find the HID kit for the fogs? Can you post a link(s)?

I don't know, maybe i'm biased...but...to me...Philips 6000k Ultinon HID bulbs
looked brighter than my max's stock HIDs...

yeah I have HIDs. but maxima's stock HIDs look more yellow than
other stock HIDs if I compare to my friends' QX4, M3, TL, and etc.
I mean...they're white, but not as white as others...

but I like that blue line where the cutoff line is...

Is 9006 base the same as 9012, did you do any modification to make it fit?

I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but someone else mentioned this as well. After a year or so the stock HIDs will change color a bit. The light gets whiter and they look more blue/purple in color from a distance. I've had my max for 9 months and the HIDs have never looked better right now. I've been told by many people that the light is one of the most intense purple/white/blue colors they've ever seen for a HID.

That's my experience, I wouldn't dream of changing them for anything else. Now the factory fogs, that's a different story. They ruin the look of the HIDs in my opinion. Wouldn't mind swapping out those bulbs.

Basicly any H3 bulb kit will work. The only problem is that you will have a hot spot right in front of your car due to the nature and aiming of fog lights. Granted it will look pretty sweet, but may be worthless

I second this question.

Mark since you have had your lights out is it possible for you to post a side by side comparison of your OEM max light with a 9006..? I have read that they are much smaller.
