Rear Sway Bar

I just noticed this on the SouthwestAutoWorks site:

While it did not take long for the 2004 Nissan Maxima to impress anyone who drove it, what the car possessed in all-out quick, it lacked in smart handling. STILLEN, famous for their Nissan tuning abilities, developed a way to help keep the new, heavier Maxima glued to the road with their bolt on Sway Bar. STILLEN thickened the walls, while maintaining the original overall diameter, to create a stronger, stiffer bar better able to keep the Maxima from leaning its weight back and forth in the curves and corners.

2004+ Nissan Maxima Rear Sway Bar 304600Regular price: $209.00Sale price: $189.90

Has anyone used this yet ?

Tks Bob

I'm not understanding why the 6th gen max would need a rear sway bar since the back end has and independent rear suspension.

I have the Stillen Rear Sway bar and it feels like a BIG improvement. Feels ALOT tighter and friends and techs have commented on it since the mod. I have been able to hit turns much faster and tighter. I have tested it on tough turns in my city that I previously had to take much slower. For instance, there is an onramp near my work that pre-mod I was only able to hit at 60mph, now after mod 70 is no problem at all, not even pushing it. I think it was a good investment IMO.

I realize I am going to get a few guffaws from the sporty set (SE drivers), but I have to ask: would the Stillen rear sway bar perhaps also fit the '04 SL?

It didn't specify if it was for the SE or SL. It said for 04 Maximas. So i would guess that it would fit all 04 Max's.

I would just shoot stillen or southwestautoworks an email to confirm.

JiuJitsuThug - Thanks for the comments.

Silverbelle - I had the techs at Nissan install it for me cause I was having it installed with my exhaust and a new intake. They didn't seem to have too much trouble and the improvement was immediate. Lemme know if you have any other questions.

The reason it needs a rear (anti) sway bar is because it has independent rear suspension!

I put the Stillen bar on my car a couple months ago and it made a good improvement in cornering at speed. It was an easy install, a 14mm socket on a ratchet wrench is all it takes to bolt it on.

Did you do it by yourself or have a helper and how long did it take?

I did it by myself. I took my time and it only took me about 45mins. 6 nuts are all you have to take off. It's an easy install for any body with some mechanical aptitude and a 14mm wrench.

Go for it!
