holliday - we have probably had over a thousand posts over the past year regarding this vibration. In fact, to my knowledge, there has never been a time during the past year when there was NOT a vibration thread on the front page.

Far be it from me to try to recall or summarize all those threads. If I were you, I would simply read through them, paying particular attention to those proclaiming 'shimmy solved', etc.

Many things can cause vibration. Tires can be out of round, unbalanced (exact tire balance is critical on the Maxima), wheels can be warped, tire pressure can be unequal between tires, rotors can be warped, alignment could be off, a belt could be broken in a tire, etc, etc, etc.

But a very unusual thing causing shimmy on the '04 Maxima is improper tension on the steering rack. Pay close attention when reading posts discussing the steering rack tension.

Good luck with fixing your shimmy. Once that is fixed, you will love this car.
