Bra or no bra?

How many 6th gen max owners here have added a car bra to their cars?

Not going to add one. Too many stories about paint fading differently in the location. Fact or fiction it makes me nervous. I do like the idea of that 3M mask that they can do for several hundred. Never seen it in person though.

I got the clear bra (3m) put on my 04 max. cost about $500 to get that done.. Looks good and i have a LOT less fear driving on the highway due to rockchips. My 94 max looks like someone had dropped gravel on the front end due to all the highway driving and rockchips. There are just 3 spots that dont look perfect on it.. 2 are the behind the back passenger door handles and the other is in the 2 curves running up the hood.. i guess thats 4 spots.. im thinking about calling them and making them fix it. i've had it on for about 1 month and owned the car for 1.25months

The lines are visible from about 3 feet away (if you are looking for them) any further and you cant tell unless you are superhuman. I could probably post some pics of the kit on my car if anyone is interested

Here's some info:

Just noticed the pricing is Canadian $ on the above site.

Here's another:

I've always heard that moisture, leaves, etc that can collect under the bra are not good for the paint. I don't know if this is a myth or truth.

Question - Can the 3M clear bra be removed once applied?

According to this:

http://www.invinca-shield.com/prodcont.asp?Page_id=faq

The film can be removed easily.

okay, ill get some pics up as soon as it stops raining here and i have a chance to wash and take some pictures.. yeah i think i could remove the clear bra by peeling it off if i tried to.

That canadian site even with conversion is a high price to pay.
mine was 500+tax included:
mirrors, hood, lights, entire bumper (not grille), behind door handles, and along door edge(so if you door another car neither car should lose paint), it also covers from the hood to the top of wheel wells. They quoted another 200 to do wheel wells and runners along the side of the car.

I contacted the dealer and they said the pricing shown includes installation. However if you do it yourself, you get a 40% discount. So the total amount for the complete package comes out to about $1000 CAD. Still more than the $500 US you paid.

You don't want to install yourself, and YOU WILL mess it up BIG TIME! You only get one shot at these type of paint protection films!

Let the pros install and you get full parts and labor warranty for 4 to 5 years!

Bras will abrade the car's finish, especially when it gets wet. So when it's needed most (winter mess) you don't want it on the car.

No bras for anything that I drive.

If you gotta have something up front, go the 3M route. It's costly though.
