Hidden Phone and Rear control features?

I just got my 04 SL about 2 weeks ago. The other night my friend was in the car and noticed that on the information center (without navi)... above the Outside Temperature display, there are icons for a (bluetooth?) phone; in/out of call, signal strength, etc.... and underneath the Outside Temperature display.. it has icons for the rear vent control....

Now, i've looked around (may not have looked enough) but i can't find anything about these two features on the car. Then I thought that the same screen was used in the Infiniti - or maybe in one of the japanese nissans... but i can't find any info...

i'm assuming they're just dead space, and you can't use those features.... but anybody have info on them?

I've noticed these as well. A while back, I remember someone digging a bit further into these on perhaps a Murano? I think they found an usused serial port, as well as some other goodies. Anyone remember? It would be cool to enable Blue tooth.. lol.

Rear air vents are on the Elite package. I have not found a way to control them from the front. You can just manually shut them from the back if you don't want the air.

I have rear vents in my SL and I do not have the Elite package. And yes the only way to close/adj them is, manually from the backseat...well I guess you could reach around.

Does anyone remember the post (waayyyy back) regarding the hidden serial port or something on a Murano (I think)? They do use the same head unit, correct?

Bluetooth would be good. I've got a bluetooth phone and Palm T3. Don't know exactly what it would do, but I'm sure it would be kewl.

Since I'm having my dash taken apart this week for stereo install, I'll have the installer guy take a look and let us know what's back there. Maybe I can get over and get a picture or something while they have it taken apart.
