Rear Wheel well

Rear Wheel well
Has anyone looked inside the rear wheel well? IF so, why is that carpet material exposed? It's the same material that's inside the trunk. I looked under my trunk mat and I noticed some moisture there. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the wheel well and I'm pretty sure mold will start growing. Why is the material in the wheel well?

IDK where the moisture is comeing from, but the carpet looking stuff in the wheel well is for sound dampening. The front's don't have it since they are (for the most part) in front of the firewall and sound proffing there.
I have never had any moisture in my trunk.... There is an air vent in the left side behind the driver's rear tire. Check to make sure the rubber flap is still on it.

This is not good. You don't want water in the trunk of any car. I have seen some real horror stories with trunks rusting out from the inside because a leak wasn't fixed. The lining/mats of the trunk will keep the water from evaporating quickly, increasing the probability of rust.
After driving in heavy rain, or thru puddles, you might try getting in the trunk and feeling all around until you find where the water is coming from. If, however, that area of the trunk is already wet, it may be impossible to tell where the latest water got in. You may need to take this to the dealer. This is covered under warranty.
