Can't get a SIRIUS signal!

I activated my Sirius yesterday. Since I was at work, I just confirmed that my activation completed, then went back to work. As I left work, I turned the car on and found that I had only an intermittent signal -- then no signal at all after a few minutes. I called Sirius and they said if my radio displays "no signal" it means that there's something wrong with my radio or antenna and that since the system was factory installed, I should bring it to Nissan to look at. I'm expecting Nissan to say there's nothing wrong.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a fix?

Before you take it in, try checking the antenna connection. The receiver and antenna connection is mounted under the rear deck in the trunk. Maybe the wires just came loose or something.

My bad... I think the receiver might be mounted towards the floor of the trunk... check out this TSB... will tell you where it is:

Good find -- thanks. I'll check it out later and hope that a wire came loose. The symptoms would certainly support that.

I got a factory kit from a dealer and the install instructions said to mount it on the bottom of the package tray or about underneath the high mount stop light in the rear window. I experienced some loss of signal when first activating it, it would normally say "acquiring signal" . If you have an antenna problem, it usually displays "antenna error". I found that sometimes when I got this message, I could tune to another channel in my presets and get a signal. For some reason, not all channels were available. One more thing, when I first activated mine, I was getting maybe 40% of the available channels. The woman I spoke with at Sirius sent out the authorization or whatever they do and everything started working fine. Hope you got the first two months free! good luck

I'm waiting for my XM kit to come in, so hopefully I'll have better luck with them than you guys are having with Sirius.

I have had my Sirius for about two months now. I only lose signal once in awhile if I am going slow under a bridge or of course in the tunnel. I have made several 600 round trips and was awesome. I especially love it since I am a big NFL fan and they have that new channel with the NFL. They will be playing every NFL game this year so you can get any team you want. Pretty cool! No problems or complaints here!

I figure with SAT radio, you'll suffer some setbacks like with SAT TV. Bad weather, or tunnels and even clouds may interfere. Sirius is still quite new, and I know they are upgrading their systems in 2005. I would just call Sirius again and repeat what daltongc said. The go straight to the dealer if that doesn't work. When calling for any product/service, you almost always get a different response depending on who answers the phone.

Tried that along with re-checking all the wiring and everything appears to be fine. The Sirius tech on the phone said he thinks the receiver is bad and dealer will likely just install a new one.
