Would Infinity Dealer service the max?

Just curious if anyone knows if the infinity dealer would provide warranty coverage for the maxima. Considering how a lot of people have complaints with the Nissan Svc dept (I know the one where i bought my car sucks) and the few remarks I've seen about infinity service have all been positive.

Don't know for sure, but maybe. I purchased my Max from Pinnacle
Nissan/Infinity in Scottsdale, AZ. They sell both, and the service
drive is the same for both. If, however, it is a stand alone Infinity
dealer, they might not have the parts available, such as body trim, etc.
but most likely could work on the engine since it is a common engine
for various Nissans and Infinitys. Get on the phone and call around.

Infiniti dealers should have no trouble working on the pre-'04 Maximas, as they were mechanically the same as the Infiniti 'I' series. I don't know if there is an Infiniti that corresponds to the '04 Maxima.

As was mentioned by high888, Infiniti dealers should be fairly familiar with the Maxima engine. As he also mentioned, they would certainly stock no body parts.

The key question is whether the Infiniti dealers could do WARRANTY work on an '04 Maxima. I would like to know the answer to that, in case I happen to have trouble a long way from home, and there is an Infiniti dealer closer than a Nissan dealer.

Nissan will do Infiniti maintenance and Infiniti will do Nissan maintenance. Warranty NO. My Nissan dealer have been trying to get authorization to do Infiniti warranty for several years now (closest Infiniti dealer 50 miles)....but they won't let them, cuz they don't sell them....go figure

Nissan has some strange rules.

The Nissan dealer near me tried very hard to get an Infiniti dealership to pair with his Nissan one. There was no Infiniti dealership anywhere on the south side of the Atlanta metro region.

Nissan not only said 'no', but awarded an Infiniti dealership to another person who built the Infiniti lot 200 yards from the Nissan lot. The Nissan dealer ended up opening a Kia dealership to go with his Nissan business.

This would not be such a big deal, except for the fact most other Infiniti dealerships in the Atlanta area (on the north side) have the same name as other Nissan dealerships. Go figure.

I'm not at all surprised about the warranty work crossover ban.

It's not just Nissan! The ultimate deciding factor for me between the Max and a TL was the fact that the Acura dealer told me that my local Honda shop couldn't do warranty work on the TL. Closest Acura dealer (and Infiniti for that matter) is 70 miles away, so game/set/match Maxima.

I just talked to my dealer's service guy and he says that the issue of servicing a Max at an Infinity dealership completely depends on the specific dealership. He basically said they can if they want to or they don't have to. There apparantly is not a set policy one way or the other with Nissan/Infinity. It just depends on whether the dealer wants to hassle with parts for one of the other (although 80% of the parts are the same).

In my dealer's case, he said he does service Infinity because "a Nissan is a Nissan."

In the end, you will just have to call the closest Infinity dealer and ask if they will do it or not.
