I'm going to just add a "shock" sensor to the oem alarm. http://www.autotechs.com/items/item1081.htm

My dealer told me it won't void the warranty unless you do faulty work that results in a related part failing. then that part is void of warranty, not the whole car. I may have them install it to be safe.

just like maxima80 said...will not void the warranty if you get
quality work done.

i have clifford intelliguard 4000 installed with a bunch of
sensors including tilt installed and a pager...total cost around
$1000.

know your installer...tell them that you are leasing the car
and need to have the car back to factory stock when the time comes.

i had a situation where i needed to exchange maximas with the
dealer...the dealer threatened to charge me for any problems/alterations
associated with the am alarm...after careful inspection, the only
thing they could find was the hole for the LED.

additionally, make sure to buy an alarm that knows about
the dome light dimming, rather than turning off when you close your
door...

good point, along with those that use the auto off timer on the headlights. i think most quality alarms have a delay for electrical triggers. I just want to add the shock feature to prevent/stop break-ins. oem already has electrical trigger and starter kill. plus i'd hate to have 2 keyfobs, or lose some of the features.

I had one of those sensor things on my previous car's aftermarket alarm, and they work pretty well. Just a good kick to the tire would set it off.
