Some advice please...

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and i need some advice. Well, I used to have a 2002 Silver Altima, but my parents got into a bad car accident and their old Toyota got totalled (theyre ok tho). They couldn't really afford to get a new car, so I let them take over my 02 Altima (only 8K balance left on it). Anyway, the point is, I'm in the market for a 05 Maxima, and all i really want is an SE model with leather, thats pretty much it, but im losing sleep over... the color. I've narrowed it down to 2 colors, either Smoke or Black. Please post your comments because your opinions as owners are really important to me. Thanks! sorry if this double posts

I love black cars, but grey (smoke) is easier to maintain.

Agreed...with the black you have to pay closer attention to cleaning it since you see every little mark, dirt, scratch, etc....

Dont get me wrong though, black is the best when you get that baby clean!!!

Me, too. Black is probably the best-looking color for the Maxima ... when it's spotlessly clean ... but it's hardly ever spotlessly clean. Five minutes after you wash and wax it, dust particles will start dropping out of the atmosphere and every last one will stick out like a sore thumb. I have (again) made a solemn promise to myself to never, ever buy another black vehicle, and this time, I'm keeping my word.

Go with smoke - it's every bit as classy-looking and less than half the trouble to keep looking good.

I agree, black is real nice when maintained, and waxed real well.....add some door dings though and a few scratches, they really stand out bad. Funny thing is you think the darker color would not show up being dirty as much. Black shows EVERYTHING. I would go with smoke, nice color, you never see many of them. When I got my 04 Max, I really wanted a black one, went for the Spirited Bronze as it still looks clean when dirty, also will hide the inevitable dings that will come eventually. Every time I do see a black Max on the street, I do think that with tint.....REAL NICE.

I voted for smoke - interior, if leather, get the orange - it would be a real show stopper!!

Yep, that would be my choice as well.....real nice if you want leather, the orange.

Personally, I wanted nothing to do with leather in the Mississippi humidity. But damn, that orange leather on a smoke Max.....would be my choice if I had to buy over again and lived somewhere else.

I own a black 2K SE, my next Maxima or any car for that matter will never be black again.

I personally like the Red or the Dark Blue.

Thanks a lot for the advice. My old Altima was sheer silver, and deep down i knew a black car was harder to maintain. (even though at the dealer, i saw the two 04 max's side by side and the black looked awesome, but like you said its hardly ever gonna be clean). Im probably gonna end up getting the smoke w/orange leather. I'm just waiting for some '05's to come in. Thanks !
