It looks like the y pipe removes the primary cat. I think this may show decent gains on our cars. Does anyone know if the y pipe from the 02 and earlier maximas remove their cat? if not then im sure this mod would yeild a lil more power than on the other year maximas. Who knows...

From what Ive read, they wont. I also looked at numerous pics of 2k2 maxima headers and y pipes when you compare em to the pic of the CM y pipe for the 04 max, the headers just dont look like they would work. Maybe with some minor modifications done to em they will.

so why is it that hotshot (last time I visited their site) has it listed as 2k2+ maximas....

I feel sorry for you guys.... We 5.5 genners had to wait a while before our headers came out too

I was there when they test fit the first prototype on the 6th gen maxima (met with Greg), since i donated my car for the 5.5 gen maxima ypipe as well.
I didnt hear any extra noises, and Greg noted more low end to mid range power.

Yes it fit, install went smoothly i believe, but it was the first pipe. On a rental automatic 6thgen maxima here in Canada. I am eager to see dyno results. I believe the first course of action is to ensure they fit properly.
The guys over at altimas.net had problems with their ypipes, but i was informed that the problems were corrected on the next batch. I am eagerly waiting for my ypipe to be test fitted and installed from custommaxima.

Well I just called there technical department and they told me that the header for the 02 will not fit and they wont be making one anytime soon unless the 02 header can be easily modfied to fit the 2004 maxima.

I don't know for a fact that the headers fit for clearance. But I do know that the A34 has EGR and the Cattman has that EGR connection. Even if there is some clearance issues those headers can probably be made to fit. I just need a guinea pig to bring a A34 to me to look over.

We've spoken back and forth via PM (prior to this post). The plan is to test fit a set on my car. He was going to look into seeing whether or not Cattman would work some kind of deal due to me being the 6th gen test mule. Currently, that's where we stand.
We're only a little over an hour away from each other. Hopefully, we can get this worked out pretty soon.
