'05 Trim?????

The only reason for reervations on my part when buying my '04 was the cheap looking platsic dash trim and concerns it would scratch. (Fears seeming to come true and sounds like others share the concern.)

I looked at the niced brished aluminum on the murano and was jealous. Anybody know if the '05's have upgraded this trim? If so is material changed or still plastic (I understand that they went to metal chromed interior door handles)?

If a bid upgrade...do you think these parts could be ordered from a deaer for replacement? Would it be a big job?

Thanks

Here is the link to the '05 dash pieces - could be a pricey upgrade and a pretty long wait...

i wanted to do the upgrade as well on my 2 1/2 month old 04 silver se. But..... i desided to just order the 05 max and get rid of mine. so thats what i did. 05 fully loaded less elite will be in roughly 2-3 weeks. silver, black leather, all options except elite.

the auto dimming side view mirrors are VERY NICE. kinda have a blue tint to them in the daytime like the bmw's

the trim is aluminum-looking, but its not real aluminum or any metal for that sort. Its still plastic, just looks a lot more durable.

My dealer (Nissan of Union City GA) has 16 '05 Maximas (most of any dealer I checked on the Nissanusa site), and I sat inside two SEs. I don't consider the interior trim to be brushed aluminum.

It is clearly different from the '04 trim, but, to me, looks more 'mottled' than brushed. I'm sure it won't show scratches the way the '04 did.

One warning: The round bezel on top of the console (at the base of the shift stalk) looks EXACTLY like the '04. I don't think this bezel was changed.

Also, the top of the '05 has the extra opening for the additional 12V outlet.

I would strongly urge anyone considering replacing their '04 interior trim with '05 trim to look very closely at an '05 SE before ordering.
