Would you buy a car with 61 miles on it?

05 SL Max the dealer wanted me to make a deal on, had 61 miles on the odometer. Would any of you guys have made a deal on a new car with so many miles on it?

Sure I'd buy it! I doubt if the car--even if driven hard--would be damaged in only 61 miles. It's not as though a potential buyer could have beat it to death on test drives on city streets. In other words, fuggeddaboudit!

Probably a demo test drive car. I would ask for 1k off!

I bought mine with 120 miles on it and got 1500 more bucks off the deal. It worked for me.

Yeah go for it. They say you lose 5k driving it off the lot anyhow so make sure you get at least $1k off the lowest price possible

I would have no second thoughts about doing such a purchase. The Maxima is a pretty solid vehicle overall.

My first Maxima (an '85) had 46,000 on the odo when I got it. It had well over 200,000 on it when I sold it (engine and trany still working perfectly).

A Maxima that has been on the lot for a few months could easily have had dozens of test drives. But the salesperson is almost always along for these test drives, and that should hold down the shenannigans somewhat.

If the car is the right color with the right equipment at the right price, I would not let even several hundred miles keep me from buying it. The extra miles just gives an additional bargaining chip to get a better deal, or a great price on a desired accessory, or several free oil changes, or . . . you get the picture.

Go for it!

I bought mine with 322 miles and got $1500 lopped off the final price. It was the only SE with Nav, in the color I wanted anywhere.

We agreed on a final price, the car arrived from another Dealership 40 miles away and when they advised me of the odo reading I refused the car. they came back $1500 lower and extended the warranty, serviced and detailed the vehicle to my specifications [read demands!!] and the deal became too sweet to say no.

And it still had a load of warranty issues to deal with and correct!!

Establish a nice reasonable offer, say around invoice? (check edmunds) Then ask/sub up to $1k more due to miles/test drives. I'm thinking that being an 05 and just arriving, the miles are probably from the dealer driving it for fun. But if it was the only one with specs I want available def. buy it. If the same with less miles are around, buy it if only cheaper or offers like Light said are included.

probably getting a good deal anyways.....your warranty on the car begins the day you pick your max so you will not get penalized for the 61 miles on it....might be test drive miles on it.....

I've seen "new" cars around here with 1500+ miles on them... NOT classified as demos. 61 miles? Jez, that's only 3 to 4 good test drives. We bought my wife's 05 Alti with about 45 miles on it... 42 of which were the dealer delivering it from another dealership.

LOL. Now that I have two different message board opinions on the matter, I may seal the deal this weekend. Dealer wanted me to pay $31.8K for it. He told me that I would get a free oil change included, but I would never let anyone else change my oil again.

I liked the Majestic Blue, but I was not in love with the Cafe Latte interior and Wood grain trim.

If the dealer is willing to pay off my last lease payment, then I may purchase it, but i'm really hoping for a Smoke color, with Black interior but time is running out for me.

For $32k if you want smoke color, wait on it until it's available, then you'll have no regrets (besides the fact that you're getting an auto, which will be the source of many a nightmare going forward!).

Get a car in the color you want, with the interior you want and the options you want, and don't settle for less unless it's something you really could live with or a deal you can't pass up. Otherwise you'll never be happy with it.

Many new cars have that many miles them. When I test drive a car, I typically drive it between 10 and 20 miles. After a few test drives, it's easy to get that many miles on the car.

this is years ago, when i tried to get new prelude.

I walked into this dealer and they showed me a new prelude. As I was trying to negotiate the price, they said "If you want to pay less, you can consider our demo car!!" so i was like...ok let's take a look at it. It had about 4000 miles on it and they said it's $1000 less than the new one. I asked for $2000 discount since it has 4000 miles on it. guess what they said...

they said, If i don't like the car b/c of its milege, i should consider getting a new car...

I hate it when salesman talks alot...ok this was offtopic...sorry
