Got a few questions bout the factory grille....

Well i'm new here. and so far this forum kicks ***, im enjoying those photoshop MAXs. Anyway, onto the questions bout the grille you either love or hate.... i love it tho, its different.

Is the grille black plastic chrome dipped like i suspect?

If so, im guessing thats why its got that dark chrome look..

Where can i get a new fresh grille for cheap? if possible...

The reason im asking is cuz well, even tho i love the grille. it seems to be cheap material. cuz well.... today i found a freakin air bubble on the grille. AN AIR BUBBLE ON THE COATING. ugh, well i want another one, same one tho.

And can someone explain to me what would be the best way to mimic that dark chrome like the grille.... cuz im thinkin off doing something similar with some aftermarket rims i might possibly get sometime soon.

thanx

If you're talking about the OEM grill, you should talk to your dealer for new grill...

The stock grille does look like it was dipped in chrome when you take it off. You can find stock grilles on ebay. Or you might find someone who'll sell you theirs on here. Take a look here:

But like VTMaximaVT said, i would bring it back to the dealer and complain about it and try to get it changed under warranty.

I had mine replaced under warranty for "chips" in the finish and some very minor peeling, so I would check with the dealer first to see if they would replace yours before spending the $$$ to get a new one from ebay or here. Save the $$$ for other mods...

Personal taste, the stock grill to me did not match the car. There are a few options out there....again, personal taste. Got my grill pretty cheap, easy to put on. Threw the stock grill in the trash as there is no market to buy them and there are quite a few options out there for aftermarket fron Trendz to others. I like the one I have because most of the ALtima guys run speed grill mesh stuff I personally do not like. Grill I got will run you maximum 180 bucks shipped to your door. I harp on this again, personal taste. If you like the tooth....stick with it. It will eventually peel and chip. My grill is now bulletproof and no chipping or peeling. Search on Ebay if you get bored. Just a big pic to give you an idea:

I like mine....different, great quality....easy install. And cheap.

I have to get my cd changer fixed too...listening to the radio for two weeks
now, if I insert the cd, it says "check disk"

so far problems i had were:
lumbar support malfunction
knocking sound when going over bump (replace struts, but not resolved)
CD changer malfuntion

i guess these are minor problems and could happen to Acura or Lexus.
I still like my max...

Mine was chipped and peeling - I simply said that I didn't expect that on a $35K car - and they agreed and replaced it - so far the new one has not had a problem, so Nissan must have changed the coating...

I don't think Nissan did anything to change the coating....will probably happen again. The nose is flat though and front end attracts rocks, not much you can do about that. Now, that is why I just said hell with it and got my grill, no rock chip problems now, ugly tooth is gone, and not really expensive. Search Ebay for Maxima grill. There are a few out there. Ease of install and not looking like a Mitsu is the reason I chose this over the Trendz. All boils down to taste. I bet money on it though, if you run the stock grill, it will always chip. Painted plastic is cheap....period. Just my 2 cents.
