Paint Touch-up?
Paint Touch-up?
Anyone have any advice on touching up a few small scratches on my Max? It's onyx and has just somehow picked up scratches here and there. Nothing that even broke through the undercoat, but there's white showing through the black, and I'd really like them not to be so visible.
There are dozens of touch up products out there... are there any that you guys have used and recommend?

same problem. i'm getting oem paint from courtesy nissan
I got my paint from courtesy nissan as well. I would stick with the bottled stuff (don't use the pen with a cleearcoat tip - it's too hard to apply and I thinkthe bottle is more of what the exterior paint is like anyway).
I've read an article on how to apply touch up paint over at car care online (carcaronline.com?), but I messed up and scratched my paint pretty badly so I am taking it to a body show in the morning... d'oh

Souljourner - fair warning: touching up knicks on a car is an art form very difficult to master. Being possibly a little conceited, I feel like I can do most anything. But every attempt I have ever made at touching up nicks on a car has been very disappointing. I would honestly rather rewire a home (and I am not an electrician) than touch up nicks on a car.
Find out everything you can about touchup painting before you start. You might even practice on some scrap before touching the Maxima.
Good luck!

Tried touching up a nick on my passenger side door molding...stepped back, and said, "YUCK!!!" It actually stands out worse now w/ the touch up than it did when it was just a nick! I've seen some kind of kit @ one of the dealerships I frequent and it's suppose to help "smooth" out the rough edges that result from touching up. The concept sounded believable when I read the info on the pkg'ing, but haven't had the time to buy/try it yet...
