My 04 SL (2500MILES) has been making a strange low pitched noise for about one second after car is put in gear and accelerator is depressed.

Occurs only when car is first key started (will recur if I turn ignition off and restart)

This kind of sounds like a vacuum motor or servo motor energizing. Its a discrete low pitched growl that last a very short time (Car drives/shifts great.)

Dealers tech is aying this is the motorized engine mounts and not to worry. My question(s) is...does this diagnosis make sense and does anyone else hear a noise like this?

The noise has increased in volume in the month or so that I have my Max. I'm going to be pursuing a fix under warranty since it doesn't normal to me. Can anyone shed any light on this????

RAY L, I have had the same sound coming from my car ever since i first got it, but i think its time im gonna take it to the dealer. It only happens when i first start the car , and pull out of whatever parking spot im in i hear a slight growl that seems to be coming from right under my gas pedals. For the rest of the ride i won't hear another sound. But if i take the key out and put car in drive i'll hear it again in that one instant right after starting her up and putting her in drive

Good to hear I'm not alone...don't know if this is a big deal or not. My dealer is researching and will come back with recommendation when I bring in the car in the next few weeks. I'll let you know how I make out...pls do the same
