Yes, people do not know much about cars (majority of them anyway).

Not mine, but I constantly mistake them myself if it's not at point blank range.

Haha this actually happened to me about a month ago.... Kid pulls up next to me has me roll my window down and proceeds to tell me "killer altima bro" Imfao.... Didn't even know what to say honestly. I know they are similar but if your gonna go out of your way to tell someone you like their car Atleast know what kind of car it is. I'll still take the compliment though lol

I feel like a fool. We were driving last night and I pointed at a 6th gen (what I thought to be a Maxima) Altima and said to my wife, "see, the newer Maximas are....wait, that's an Altima."

I had a third gen, then forth gen when max owned the road!! 4dsc! No lexus is 300's or infiniti g35's etc..I still own my 2000 5th gen that's cosmetically a 5.5 03 with a drop full stillen lip kit and 19" milli miglias etc..but I believe in 03 or 04 the altima in my opinion out shinned the max cosmetically.. for me personally this was disheartening...I had my other two gens and there was no denying what they were or the respect they commanded....that's why I can say I paid almost 30k for her and 13 years later still runs and looks perfect. (Garage kept) ...but if I hear nice altima one more time!!! Lol actually I can't even blame them..I blame nissan..the 6th gen altimas look better then the 6th gen max..sad but true..and the 7th max looks like a big a** boat compared to the smaller more aggressive looking clone...the altima..nissan design department u are idiots!!! I just want an excuse to move into a lexus or g...but one good thing...my 5th just keeps on going problem free..no oil burning (5.5 gen) or tranny problem s (6th gen)..I think I got the last good year plus the way I have her lowered, rimed, and stillened out people really love my altima...lol

6th gen altima? you mean 4th gen, right? which came out in 2007. the 07-09 altima front end looked way too simular to the 07-08 maxima in my opinion. that's where the nissan designers effed up. I see absolutely no resemblance between the 04-06 maxima and the 02-06 altima.

the 6th gen rear looks nothing like an altima, and resembles the 350z, which i love :P

Yeah I'm not sure of altima years or generations or the differences... I just know the maximas.. and the 6.5 gen max nose looks very similar to one of the altimas but i think thats where the simularities end. But for so many even car guys tell me "nice altima"... guess i shouldnt b mad and instead take it as a compliment. I guess i just long for the old days where the max was unmistakable and the lower line vechicle under it didnt look better...smh...

yup, the 6.5 front end looks way to similar to that of the 07-09 altima, even the 10-12. the 7th gen maxima is a different animal though, looks nothing like the altima...well, the new altimas rear looks similar to the maximas lol

Heck, I was at the local dealer over the weekend looking for an Altima for my daughter. Parked directly in front of the main doors, the sales representative asked "So are your ready to upgrade your Altima?" I responded, "It's a Maxima and I need to speak to another sales person...."

More and more I think the Altima's are starting to look like the Maxima's. Obviously not a great deal, but enough that I sometimes have to look twice. It's like Nissan is bumping the Altima up to the Maxima's place and the Sentra up to the Altima's spot, and well where does that leave the Maxima to go?
