Eibach Springs and Noise

Hey guys, I have installed the Eibach Springs, car rides great, handles better but I also have the rear sway bar. Tires are terrible, noisy. Getting car Dynamatted on Tuesday, I'll let you know if this quiets the car down.

I am experiencing a clunking noise from my front end and my dealership can't seem to find the problem and have said that even when they find the problem, they will not fix under warranty because of the springs. Does anyone have an idea on how to correct this clunking. I don't want to pay but I may have to. Please assist.

i'll guess it's your struts which would soon be replaced with "new and improved, redesigned ones" coming out since they have so many problems, esp. with a/m springs. sad that now you'll have to buy them.

are you trying to say that nissan's going to recall 04 max for struts? i thought they didn't have the redesigned struts... i took my max in for struts today. hopefully i don't have to go in there for the same problem.

no, i'm hoping for a recall, but the new strut is supposed to be available any day now for those that need replaced. my point is that any wanting to lower or already have, should wait/replace stock springs, for new struts to come out. if there is a recall, i don't know how Nissan would handle those with modded suspension.

Don't take this statement to the bank, but from my understanding struts are "kinda" available for the max with some modifications. The front struts can be retrofitted from 95-99 kyb agx struts. Someone mentioned about cutting something and then they should work. Now the rear struts are from a 88-92 300zx, apparently it is a direct fit. I got this information from an altima guy who had this done. If the cars are on the same chasis then it should work. I mentioned kyb agx's cause that's what he had and they are a company that has those specific struts.

Well I am in the process of getting those done as we speak. I should have all the shocks by the end of this week so I will let you guys know how it turns out. The fronts are Koni, not KYB. Tey are all adjustable.

I would like more info on the Tokico Illumina if anyone has any. Would this addition help with the danger of blowing the struts with the Eibachs??? Thanks!

Go ahead, I had tokicos on my prelude and they were later on replaced for the kybs. I only had the blues but the kybs had way better ride quality. Konis in the front should ride wonderful, Ive heard nothing but good about that company.

i heard that the tokico ILLUMINA has better ride quality than the kybs. i only read good things about illuminas but heard alot of cases on the blues collapsing.

but the link is for rear. are fronts available for the Max? so i assume the setting is for stiffness, dose it matter if the springs are stock or lowered? Also, do your have the grounding kit in red?

I am working on getting the fronts on the site for ordering now, and will post a reply with a link as soon as I have that up It will make a huge difference, stock or lowered....but even more so lowered. If you do have some time, and before considering spending all of this money on upgrading your suspension, please read through those links I posted, you willl learn a ton about the setup we have done, and will probably answer any questions you have. Keep in mind that the suspension is the setup we did is the same as the Altima, which all those posts are about. Glude is the first one with the Maxima with our setup.

that will be for fronts only, rear are $229, no core.

So what was modified on the rear to void warranty?

That's correct. Or you could just keep your stocks for $550 total. Shipping in the past has been around $15-$20.

Just to let everybody know, the page will be here:

http://www.activetuning.com/products/atpid20

But we're not going to start accepting orders just yet. It will probably be no more than 2 weeks, but I'll make sure and let you guys know.

Correct on this one as well. Any sort of modifications made to the shocks void their warranty, not to mention if you lower your car, it also voids there warranty. As for what we did, the spring perches were removed, clevis end was widened, and the shaft diameter was reduced at the top.

Its not a bad price for the fronts considering they are koni inserts that are being installed for you. Koni makes inserts for other cars and people dont like doing it so the price isnt bad for the labor of turning your stocks into some nice adjustables.

i just couldn't resist the idea of dropping my max. i kinda messed up with payment because i forgot to mention that i was ordering the konis for 2004 maxima and i might have used a card with insufficient funds. i made an account with paypal and put two different bank/credit accounts and i don't know which account i used to order the struts.

log onto paypal and look at your history. should say which you used. I'm sure if any problems, the guys will work it out with you. I don't think I'll drop her. I just want that nicer ride and less body roll. adjustable just seems awesome.
