Trunk Lid Letters (removal)

Are the "MAXIMA" and "3.5 SE" letters on the trunk just stuck on with tape/adhesive, or are there holes involved as well? I wanna take them off.

double sided adhesive tape. Use dental floss on fishing line.

Does debadging normally reduce the value of the car? Someone had asked me because I've been talking about doing it to mine for the past month and now it has me wondering.

It could possibly devalue the car. Depending who you were selling it to. A conservative type like me would want the badges on there. So keep them and if that's the case you can always put them back on easily enough.

Being an old stick-in-the-mud, I would never be doing this. But I seem to remember some on this board who did debadge say it was much easier in hot weather. One poster even used a hair dryer to 'expedite' the process.

If you do this, be SURE to take canadianMoFo's advice and save the badges, as they will be expected to be on the car when you sell/trade it to any dealership.

I figured it could be a bit of an issue when trading in or selling, like candianmofo said htey're easy enough to put back on if need be.
I prefer the clean look myself (does prompt more annoying "oh that's not an Altima?)

So did you guys do this yourself, or have a body shop handle the honors? I am itching to remove the badges also. Of course would save em for resale.

And the Emblem?

Is the emblem attached the same way, or does it leave holes?

Regards,
Vince

If you have the factory lip spoiler there are two holes behind it. If no spoiler then no holes. I used a heatgun and fishing line on mine, worked like a charm. I didnt use goof off though, I tried the 3M adhiesive remover. Heres an old pic of the holes, before and after...

I'd be interested in how you filled in the holes too. I have two little holes in the front bumper where the dealership put on the license plate bracket that I'd like to fill up.

He probably used bondo or some other body filler. That looks like the only way to do it. You would have to get it painted and then feathered in or if the area is small enough just use some touch up paint. But, I'd recommend it to get professionally painted. If you can talk to the paint guy, he'll probably be able to do it on the side for under $100.

That looks real good KCmaxx, I like the stock spoiler.....would like it even more if I could get one, take my dremmel to it and get rid of the circular part where the emblem was and make it flush and straight across. I also am debadged and just wanted to put a thumbs up for ya.

Thanks guys, hey carcus I thought about cutting off the bottom half too but I was told it was hollow. I believe my buddy used bondo on the holes but he also repainted the whole spoiler. No spot work. Heres a rear shot for rabenoja:
