halogen ---> xenon HID

Has anyone replaced the standard halogen light bulbs with the HID's? I was interested in doing this but told by the dealer that they won't replace just the bulb. I would have to by the whole assembly for a ridiculous amount.

You should not need a new headlight assembly, just need the plug and play wiring harnass with the bulbs and ballast, then the end cap. Yep, they sell them on Ebay. You can buy a ruined light and use the parts from that, one with a broken tab. Could they be stolen....might be..never know. Swap should be easy if you can get to your stock headlight and remove it. You will need the back plastic cover as well for the HID as the stock halogen back cover is a bit different.

What we do need is a nice step by step picture by picture "How to replace headlight bulbs."

That would be nice. Now, for a retrofit of HID to a non HID setup....you will have to remove each of the headlight assemblies. You have to mount the ballast on the headlight assembly.

Hey, I have installed angel eyes on my 97 BMW convert, was not that tough removing the entire unit....but lots of stuff in the way on the Maxima....and being a new car under warranty......you know what I mean.

Don't you need to remove the bumper to get at the 04 Max headlights?
