6th Gen vs. 5th Gen
I know have a 93 Se Maxima that has no major problems but needs attention here and there. With the amount of money I spend monthly on mods and maintenence I figured I should just get a new car and I want to keep it in the Maxima family. I like both the 5th and 6th gen versions and im torn between which to get. The 5th gen is fast, sexy looking and has tons of mods available. While the 6th gen is also fast and sexy. The bad is that if I get a 5th gen it will be used and might have miles and the 6th gen is bigger, less mods, and is a hot item on the car thief wish list here in NY.
Which would you go with in my situation?

You might consider getting a 2004 whether used or just one that's been sitting on the lot. You'll get a really good deal, and the differences between that and the '05s are really minimal.
I had a 2000 max, and loved it... if I hadn't been leasing, I would still have it. If you could find a low mileage 5th gen, you would probably get a lot more for your money. You tend to take a big hit on new cars as they devalue most rapidly in the first year or two.
It totally depends on how much it's worth to you to have a brand new car.... Obviously the brand new max is going to be a heck of a lot more expensive than a 2+ year old 5th gen.

If you don't need financing then a used 02-04 would make sense. They've depreciated already, so you get a relatively good deal over a new 05.
However if you are going to finance the vehicle it would make more sense to get one that is new with a warranty and usually at a lower intrest rate than for used cars.
