Inside of window cleaning

I cannot figure out why, but no matter what I try on the inside of the windshield, there are always streaks and a continual greasy film. I have tried a dry cloth (clean of course), distilled water, and the greasy film stays...I even took my finger to the corner to see if my eyes were playing tricks, and it really was there. I've been afraid to use any chemicals for fear of permanent damage, but maybe I'm just crazy, so let me know what you guys use for the inside of the windshield.

window cleaner

I've used normal Windex on my car windows and it takes two or three cleanings to get most of the streaks out. I believe the plastics in the car outgas and leave a residue. I've had good luck using Invisible Glass by Stoner. I get most of the residue in one cleaning with it.

yeah windshields are a ***** to clean. its just so akward to clean because of the position it puts you in. but all it takes is a good glass cleaner and a clean towel and make sure you put some ***** into it when cleaning.

Try "Stoner's" and use crumpled newspaper to dry or a very clean MF towel that has been freshly washed. Make sure you havn't used fabric softener when you wash the towel/cloth you're using to dry the windshiled. Most fabric softeners leave a residue on the fabric that causes it to streak (even when they are fully dried). You can get Stoners at a local auto parts store. It works for me

I use Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish by Zaino. It's a little more work but worth it to me. It is like a liquid wax and you put it on and let dry then wipe off. Comes off easy too. Here is the website description...
Finally, a glass cleaner and polish that really works!

You will think your glass disappeared!

Excellent on chrome and stainless, too!

We searched for years trying to find a glass polish that really works as advertised. Frustrated with the results, we decided to engineer our own. Introducing Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™. Formulated with modified cleaners and mild abrasives, Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ deep cleans and polishes all glass surfaces with ease. It quickly removes acid rain spots, hard water spots, road film, stubborn bird stains, and that annoying interior glass film. Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ is so effective, it even removes fine to medium scratches. We have yet to find a stain that Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ did not remove from glass. It leaves glass crystal clear and sparkling.

Use newspaper with any window cleaner( Windex- stoners - etx) for best results. The best product for this application is "coffee filters" which lack any chemicals that would leave residue on your windshields. Newspaper is the next best thing since they did away with inked based lettering. Dont do your rear view mirrors with newpaper - I find that the mirror finish starts to scratch
