Save your money, get a Magellan 700 for $1,300 new or less on e-bay.
Update via USB in you house, transferable to other vehicles, travel with it and use it in rental cars. The only downside is not being as clean as an intergraded system.

I love the navigation system, it really does come in handy once you start remembering you've actually got the thing in your car and you don't need directions anymore I waited for a Journey package to come into the area for quite a while just to get it...I'm sure the aftermarket solution is great but I'm all about the clean look of the interior and wouldn't want something like that cluttering it up

The factory Navi tops the list of things that new passengers in my car gush about. It is quite impressive the first time you demonstrate it to them. Then they start carressing the interior and listening to the Bose stereo system. Most people at this point commit that they would love to own this car, even before we get out of the driveway. Then we head down the road and give it some gas . . .heaven.

I was told by a Nissan dealer that it IS possible, but it will cost between $4k and $5k, and they have to take so much out to get all of the equpment in, your car just may not be the same again.

I.E. - The actual DVD player for the NAV system goes in that extra space under your middle arm rest.

Actually it goes in the pocket in front of your shifter (there's a false cover behind the little door). I had to eject the DVD many times in order to reset the system last summer. I *****ed for 4 months for them to fix mine and they finally did it one week before the TSB came out.

Really? Actually, I thought that would have been the perfect place to put it, but I could swear that I saw one in that middle handrest.. oh well, maybe not. All I can say is unfortunately, I am a very impatient person, so in August of 03 when I bought my Maxima, I would have had to wait about 6 weeks to get the one with the Navi, so I talked myself out of it.

Looking back, I wish I would have waited...I love everything about the car, just wish I had the NAVI. Not that I get lost or anything, its just that I am always going to new places. I hate having to look down at a printed mapquest while I drive, I like to be a very safe driver.
