I just remember unscrewing the 2 and reaching in there.

Thanks i just reached in there and they twisted right off... I replaced them with chrome HID's style bulbs and i like them a lot better. I will post pics soon.

Might as well become a corner-light-aholic, down here in mexico you need those for the corners down here are something serious hit the sidewalk or just scrape it and might end losing the wheel.

ok...maybe a dumb question..but i would feel dumber if i didnt ask and i founf out the hard way so be nice...

if i change the stcok bulbs with the extra bright PIAA bulbs, wouldnt the extra brightness eventually burn the plastic cover of the light ?? or are these new bulbs just brighter while having the same wattage ?? if it has the same watt output it shouldnt burn the plastic even if they are 10 times brighter ?? right ?? no ?? im confused...

Ok - so.. the lights that look like foggers on the Maxima are actually cornering lights or do they also act as cornering lights and go "out" of fog light mode when the blinker is on?

plastic will not melt (may even be glass?). now on a daewoo or something i guess it may be a slight concern.... probably not even then. It's a different color, same amount of power, and same size bulb.

Cornering light lights only while that side's turn signal is blinking.

We have fog lights right beside the headlights.

Ok, so NismoMax80 - in the first pic in your signature line, the circular light below the headlight is the cornering light, correct?

The circle is the cornering light, yeah...and It is is easy to access after removing 2 screws located under the bumper facing the ground, directly under the light.

I have PIAA blue bulbs installed..they look cool when they are off bc they are blue...but as for more light...IMO they are less bright if anything...but the color of the light is more plesant of course.

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th Gen Maximas have them. The 5th gens did not and it was a dissapointment for my dad when he bought his '02. I don't think the 1st Gen had them either. I guess they went out of style for a while. My mom's 3rd Gen Mercury Sable (1996) doesn't have them, but the 1st Gen Sable it replaced (a 1986) had them and they were great. My friends are impressed when they ride in my car and can see to the sides on turns!

As I stated above, all Maximas 1985-1999 and 2004+ have cornering lights. The A32 cornering lights are dim when the parking lights are on and bright when the turn signal is on. Look at my sig pic below.

Here Is cornerning light break down:

2nd gen: 85-88 all had them
3rd gen: 89-94 all had them
4th gen: 95/96 had them
4th gen: 97-99 did not have them
5th gen: 00-03 none had them
6th gen: 04/05 have them.

They were in the fourth gen for 95-96 then they took them out for the 97- 99. I don't know why they did it. I have a 95 now and I love them. I had a 97 that had no cornering lamps. Just glad they brought them back. I have the 04 sl now and I am a cornering lamp-a-holic. When I am facing a car in front of me at night I hit the turn signal one way an then the other. It's funny to see the looks people give you when they go by. We all need a cure for this illness. Welcome corner lamp-a-holics

Very interesting. I have a '96 and since the body style is the same I thought the corner lights were the same, too. I guess the 97-99 side lenses are only parking lights then? I know they changed up the headlights from the ugly glass ones to the plastic reflector-type, I didn't know they made a change to the cornering lights. That sucks.

Yep they are only parking lights in retrospect on the 97-99's! As far as corning lights goes in Maxima history I also remember the 85-88's cornering lights stayed lite for about 4 seconds or so after the blinker stopped blinking unlike the 3rd, 4th and 6th gens that have them.

You are right about that. My 85 max wagon light stayed on a few seconds after the signal was cancelled. I guess nissan figured that once you finish the turn you probably don't need the light anymore lol.

Dude - read the thread before you post! All 2nd gen, 3rd gen, and the first two years of the 4th gen most definetly had cornering lights. This has been discussed exhaustively in this thread. Also, don't be so unspecific in your posts - "these lights" isn't very clear. I'm not trying to be a d!ck, just read and think before you post.
