Windshield Washer

Hey Fellow Maxima Enthusiasts!!!

It's Christmas time again!!! And it's already starting to ICE here in the Midsouth. I was just wondering: do we need to put DE-ICER windshield washer into our 6th gen or it already has de-icer in it? Thanks for your time in answering this.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO Y'ALL!!!

You'd better get some winter windshield washer fluid in there before it all freezes solid.

I'm with joemax1 on this question. I have looked in several stores for the past six months, and all the windshield washer fluids clearly say 'SUMMER washer fluid'. That tells me they are trying to say this is NOT WINTER washer fluid. I read all the fine print on the containers, and no mention was made of whether the product is safe in winter.

I am glad joemax1 asked this, and, like him, I await info on this. Surely our friends in Canada are well-versed in this area.

edit - CanadianMoFo - Which stores carry winter washer fluid? I haven't found any in the Atlanta area.

Hmmm every store carries it here. In varying degrees of protection. Mostly they all say -40 on them. Even the cheap 99 cent variety. I spring for the -45C fluid that reeks of alcohol every time I spray the windshield.

If it doesn't have a temperature rating printed right on it, its not winter fluid. You could always add a little methyl hydrate to your fluid tank. That will keep it from freezing.

Thanks for the informed responses.

This is probably like most situations in Georgia. The winter washer fluid will be ordered when the weather man predicts a hard freeze, and the product will probably arrive around the end of January.
