Thanks Pal, I got the picture now. I`m still waiting here in The Great White North (actually on the far East Coast). Hopefully any day now

I received and installed the STS from Watkins mfg. Co.
I am elated to report that this is the answer to my problems.
The shifting between gears is definately shortened(37%)
and no gear grind(honestly), no matter how fast I shift.
I Love it to say the least and Steve sure has a top notch
quality product here.

Edify, you have had the Watkins STS the longest, have you noticed that

My shifting is smooth and definately shorter but takes a little more effort than the OEM set up. I know with the shortened length of the throw
there will be an increase of effort.

I am happy with this but was wondering about your opinion..........

I kinda feel that way too, but the shortened shifts cover it all~~ As a matter of fact, I'm so used to short-shifting now, it's effortless... Glad you like it though~~

Wow, what a difference. Feels smoother and quicker. I haven't installed the piece under the shift boot yet. From what I can tell there will be a pivot point with a metal post directly contacting the aluminum "extender" piece. Is replacing a bearing joint with metal on metal contact smart. Has anybody else had this thought.

Anyone thought about physically shortening the length of the shift shaft? The STS in the G35 has a much shorter shaft than the one in our maximas, and I think it looks a lot meaner. The long shaft in our maximas looks like something out of a Ford Focus.

Thoughts? If it takes more force to shift with this STS mod, it'll take even more with a shorter lever... wondering if that'll be too much.

I agree that the shifter look too long and a shortened shaft would be a LOT nicer looking

All the necessary hardware and complete instructions are included. The throw is shortened 37%. Best STS on the market.

Completely agree with you...

I don't think anyone here has shortened the stick yet... Someday, I'll try to do it and let you all know the outcome.

Hey Edify, did you try shortening your stick yet? Let us know if you did...

Ratgoesmax, sorry for the late reply. I don't know if the effort to shift has actually diminished or if I've just grown used to it. To be honest, I don't even remember what the OEM set up felt like. All i know is I'll never go back.

Koreanmaximan, I haven't tried to actually shorten the stick. I'd be really interested if anyone does this. Let me know when you give it a try.

Steve said it would take more effort to change gears because the length of throw has shortened (basic physics, he interated). I know that is so, however, I honestly can say it sure feels like I`m using less effort than it did two weeks ago. I have the 8mm post with the two rubber type oil/grease seals. Installing the NEW red piece to keep the stick from hitting or almost hitting the dash consul was a tight fit. I used a light grease (vasoline) for the installation. It has now worked itself in (I believe)and requires less effort(feels that way to me). I`m Loving it and best of all I could return it to OEM it 15 minutes if I had two. The instructions and ease of installation is phenominal. Thanks again for starting this thread Edify and introducing me to Steve at Watkins. http://www.fast-shift.com/

Hey ActiveTuning, i have a question...many 2k2/2k3 guys have the STS already set up, or at least the first half (the engine bay piece). would you be able to provide us a price if we wanted to purchase JUST the shifter console piece. i'm almost 100% positive you will get a lot of people to buy that, as they already have engine bay STS's installed, me included.

Give me until early this week and I'll look into what we can do in terms of a special order for you guys that already have the other shifter and only need the one piece. Will update you guys soon with some info on that.

Keep in mind guys that I can't promise we'll be able to do just the one piece...that's why I need a few days to see what I can do. Will keep everybody updated

vsamoylov, that is correct. The $130 shipped is our Group Buy price, but our regular price is also a very fair $159 SHIPPED when the GB/Intro pricing is done with. It will fit 2002+ Maxima's (as well as Altima's and Sentra's for those interested).

Ok guys good news! We will be able to sell the 2nd part only for those of you with the other STS installed. It will most likely be about 3-4 weeks before we have them in stock, as we have to make a seperate batch to accomodate you folks. As for pricing, I have nothing finalized at this time, but I do promise that it will be very reasonable.

For those of you that would like the 2nd piece, please make sure and e-mail me at dave@activetuning.com and have me add you to my list of people. This will give me a better idea of the numbers we need, plus it will keep you in the loop of what's going on on our end.

If anybody has any questions, ask away.
