Short Throw Shifter

Everyone click on this ebay link for a short shifter on your 6th gen. It's the same one that I've got installed on my Maxima, and works great! The best mod I've done on my Maxima to date. The seller is a great guy and the STS is well worth the $150.00.

I dont think anybody has ordered one. I may order one soon but im still a little skeptical about it. Has the shifting changed any? Any new impressions on it?

So the red aluminum piece replaces the origional piece and the rest is all OEM?
Sorry if that question sounds stupid.

red aluminum piece

The red aluminum piece fits on top of the OEM piece using the OEM pin that holds the cable, to hold the red aluminum piece. The cable goes on a new pin underneath the red aluminum piece. Nothing gets replaced, just added.

see:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

It's the same piece the 5.5 geners just got with a slight mod to fit on the gen 6. The gen 6 STS will have a slightly shorter throw.

I ordered my STS from Steve at FastShift on Tuesday. He tells me he has orders from Nissan and Stillen, so who knows what the price will be from them. Steve is back on eBay so here is where you can order and get free shipping for a limited time. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ADME:B:LC:MT:1

I anxious to get mine, I`ll check in later when I install and include pics

Cool, I think that I'm going to get it this time. I didn't get a chance to order it last time it was up on ebay.

Is this a simple install or do I need to take it to a mechanic to do?

The install is real easy. All you need is a 10 mm wrench, a phillips and a flat screw driver, and a pair of pliers. Takes about 20 minutes. I had my 12 year old son install one.

I just spoke to Steve Watkins and I'll be meeting him this weekend. He sounded really nice and sincere... It just happens that Watkins is like 5 minutes from my home and he said he'll even install it for me, all at $130.

You could call Steve directly at 714-680-0668. He's the only person at Watkins, and the ebay seller is also Steve Watkins. As per Steve, he's currently supplying the STS to Stillen, Nissan dealers, TRD, and other resellers.

I'm willing to try this product, because of Edify~~ He's goood~~

I'll post comments after installation.

Koreanmaximan, where the heck have you been? You won't regret the STS. Steve's a great guy. He's actually called me several times after my install just to see how I'm doing. 6th gen 6 speeds, this is a good mod, and the seller is top notch!

Oh, absolutely~~ Steve was such a great guy... He showed me the process of making the STS, and some other goodies he has worked on...

I wonder if Watkins will be developing any other devices... Hey, do you happen to know how to shorten the clutch? I remember my Integra was a piece of cake, but I'm not sure where the clutch wire is under the hood of Maxima...

Yeah, I remember adjusting my clutch on my Civic all the time. I'm not too sure about adjusting the clutch on the 6th gen. Anyone else got any ideas?

Thought I might add couple pictures of the STS. There is one piece that goes under the hood, and one more below the shift ****.

I haven`t received mine yet so I am trying to orientate myself with the pics.
I understand the second pic as I had mine off talking to Steve about the 8 or 9mm post. From what angle is the first pic?

OK on second look the first pic is the under the hood removal of the air filter to get at the shifter?

Koreanmaximan, I didn't get the second piece under the shift **** installed. Steve didn't have it ready when I installed mine. What does it do?

From top looking towards bottom. Camera angle might be confusing, because I took the picture after I put back on the air filter...

That is correct. It'd be best to remove the air filter and a hose right below the air filter to get to the shifter, unless you have extra extra small size hand.

Good luck with your install!!

Yeah... Steve told me he finished up with the second piece right after he hooked you up... You should call him up and ask for the second piece. He knows you well already, and I doubt if he'd even charge you anything...

Anyways, the second piece basically makes the shift **** stays more in the center of the gear box. Meaning, the shift **** would not go too much towards the dash. For instance, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it moves only a minimal amount from neutral position. I think it shifts about half as it did before when shifting to 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

I'm not sure if my explanation is good enough, but you should definitely give Steve a call to get your second piece. Good luck!!

O ok. Steve called me after he completed this piece to let me know.

Well... I believe they're "$150 buy it now" at ebay, but you could try calling him direct. I think I posted his phone number in one of my previous posts. You could check the website as well. www.fast-shift.com

Try telling him that you got the info from Eddie and Joon from Maxima website. He might just hook you up for $130... Good luck!
