I picked up my Max last night and i noticed that the Airbag light stays on unless someone is sitting in the passenger seat. is there any way to disable this light because it is bothering me

Sure, you could remove the bulb. No disable feature. But just like the SES lamp, it is there for a reason. Federal law.

I'm guessing this is only on a 2005 model?

That would annoy me too. I'd take the bulb out.

Yep! After a few weeks you take no notice of it.

its on the 05. On the dash, in the middle of the windshield. when a person is in the passenger seat, the light goes off, meaning its activated. when the passenger seat is free, the airbag is disabled and the light is on.

its a saftey feature, why would you take the bulb out and risk anything?

Freaky.

Take a piece of electrical tape, cut out a small circle and throw it in there.

I really don't mind the light. I think it's cool... At least the airbag will not deploy if there is no one in the passenger seat.

So we need a light to tell us that the passenger airbag is off because no one is in the passenger seat. I don't know about you but I can tell if someone is in the passenger seat or not and I don't need a light to tell me. No passenger=no passenger airbag so why a light to tell you that?

95Max - I would think you need to ask some busy drone toiling away in the heart of our big, beautiful Federal Department of Transportation. I'm sure it is tied to the misguided overkill usually applied when the safety of kids is concerned.

Or possibly, soccer dads and moms want the positive reassurance of knowing whether the cumulative weight of racquets, groceries, urchins, etc they have piled into the passenger seat is such that the ($2000K or more to replace) airbag will deploy if there is a bumper bump.

I'm sure somebody thought this was a very constructive and important feature. It would probably be less bothersome if the light was tied to the dash lights, and dimmed when they were dimmed.
