I second what DvSMAXXX04 said....even though this is the first car that I did not want leather in.......I have used meguiars for years on my leather. I used the cream rather than the spray though. Matter of fact, still have half a bottle in the shed, need to give it to someone out here that needs it.

If you are in a dry climate, high temp and UV sun...unless you condition the leather, it will crack, and harden. Not much you can do then. Nothing worse than a ugly crack or split in leather.

I tertiate this. You have to moisturize it like you do your hands. If not, they will crack. Meguiar's is some good stuff. Don't leave it on there or it will stain the seat.

I use the same stuff, you really need to watch that overspray. Seems like no matter how careful i still find spray somewhere when I'm done!!
I might switch to the cream like Carcus!!! (don't think I'll be in MS anytime soon!!)

I have used Lexol for several years and on different leathers. It works great !. The only problem is that it is hard to find in Canada.

I would use a cream buut not too ofter mabye once / month or every 6 weeks I have seen people over use it and it makes the leather very soft .... almost worn out so be careful who know where nissan get their hides from.

if it weren't for the 3" of snow currently accumulating right now, I'd be out there with my Zaino protectant. getting some creases on my seat. It's inevitable with leather, but good maintanece will slow the process.

I have been using Lexol for more than 20 years, and have always been happy with the results. I put it on about every other month and have never hasda problem with leather cracking. Also, keeps the shine like new.

I have had leather seats for 20 years and have never once used a conditioner. My seats have always held up perfect without it.

I like using Zaino "Leather in a bottle". Looks nice and clean and smells like leather.

I like to keep my old Maximas as 'second cars'. I kept an '85 Maxima for fifteen years, and did almost nothing (other than clean it) to preserve the leather.

I did have to replace the seating surface of the front seats because of extended wear. But the only portion of the leather that deteriorated in any way that I feel could have been greatly helped by use of a perservative was the top portion of the back seats. That was probably because I tend to park facing away from the sun (for obvious reasons), increasing the percentage of time the top of the rear seats were in full sun.

I am thinking of possibly treating the seats on my '04 about once every year or two with MeGuiars Gold Class 'Rich Leather', which I have already purchased. I want to wait until I have time to cover all metalwork before using the spray.

joemax1 - That should be OK. I know those who love their Maxima sometimes tend to overdo the care. In most cases this does no harm.

I'm not sure of the long-term effects of very frequent treatment of the leather. It may be that the leather might possibly become too pliant (soft) and possibly more succeptible to some kinds of damage. I feel sure treating it three or four times a year is more than sufficient.

I personally have had very good luck never treating the leather in my Maximas, but do plan to begin treating the leather in my '04 once every year or two. I could be wrong, but feel that is more than sufficient.

id think maybe once in spring before it gets super hot...and once again at the end of summer would be good enough. i have pretty dark tints that block a lot of light. my seats dont get really hot so i doubt they would dry out over a month or two
