Electrochromatic Mirrors

Somebody told me the side mirrors on the '05 max were electrochromatic like the rearview - is this true? Do they work well?

I wish I had them in my '04...

you just answered yourself. auto dimmed mirrors. i'm not sure if all model 6gen comes with sidemirror defrost. somebody correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes it's automatic, but you can disable the feature if you want. I tend to do that because my windows are tinted and the side mirrors look too dark at night. Just press the button on the rear view mirror, the one to the left of the gate opening program thingy. After you press the button, the little LED on the mirror will turn off, and then you'll see all three mirrors clearer. Isn't that cool!!

I can't find anything that backs it up. Nissan didnt know about it... (my dealer)

05 side mirrors are self dimming.

It's sad that Nissan is associated with such dealers. At least educate them or keep better tabs on them. But I guess most dealers are pretty much ignorant across the board.

I'd liek to know how you manually turn them on and leave them? At night is brights, then dims (greenish) then brights...then dims...(yeah, in traffic...)

No, I won't tint the rear window. I'm cheap...thus a Maxima!

2005 has dimming side mirrors.

you can only turn off the rearview mirror, or let it adjust on its own, hence AUTO-dimming.

I think the auto dim side mirrors are part of a package. My '05 SE is bare bones (only additions to base are floormats and splash guards) and the side mirrors are not auto dim.

This is from Nissan's website:

Driver Preferred Package
• High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-level xenon headlights1 (3.5 SE)
• Rear spoiler (3.5 SE)
• Power folding outside mirrors with memory function
• Auto-dimming outside mirrors
• Driver's seat entry/exit system (automatic transmission)
• Driver's seat power lumbar
• Heated steering wheel
• Power-tilt and power-telescoping steering column with memory function
• Driver's seat memory system with two-position memory

This package includes all 3.5 SE Sensory Package items on 3.5 SE models.

It only says outside mirrors b/c the rearview is standard. Sensory package adds heat to outside mirrors.

I have an 05 is it possible for my mirrors to close when i turn off the ignition? or just with the button in the car?

I like that idea, when I get the remote start I'm gonna have to wire that in so they close. That way when I park I don't have to worry about somone taking them off.

no way that the 04 side mirrors dim the rear does and IMO doesnt work well....

yeah...i have tinted windows all around, and the auto dimming mirrors are worthless if you have tinted windows...
