Color Poll
As I have looked through some of the threads, I get a sense that there is a relatively high percentage of Onyx Maxima owners. It would be interesting to get some data on what colors are being driven.
I have an 05 Coral Sand SL. I think this color is in the marked minority.

I just bought a 05 Coral Sand SL with Leather Caffe Latte interior, same as wsu. I like this color a lot. Ac
My previous car was a 2001 Maxima SE, in black. That color drove me crazy, I could see every nick, chip, scratch without even looking hard. It got to be depressing when I would wash it myself, it just amplified every imperfection.

Yesterday I put leather treatment on all of the leather surfaces and Armor All on the plastic surfaces in hope that scuffs and other marks will be more easily removable. I keep a cotton rag and a microfiber cloth in the car to remove scuffs immediately. So far I have had good luck. I have even gotten my kids to be careful with their feet (with three of them riding in the back seat).
I am concerned that a mark on the faux suede will be problematic to remove. It seems to me that the rubbing to remove a stain or scuff would abrade the material and leave a mark. Even blotting the surface with a moist cloth could leave a "water mark" of sorts. In general, I don't like the faux suede material.

I felt like the silver was too bright IMO (plus I see a lot of the silver and the red ones around where I live)
The bronze just didn't do anything for me.
I really liked the blue color, but my experience with the black kept from even considering that one.

Majestic Blue/black here in Texas...very very few around that I have noticed in Dallas, which makes it even better with the Max all nice and shiny! And like aliti19 said, when you are a cleaning freak, dark colors don't matter

Mine had to be black, however, there is a white one around here that I didnt like at first, but the more I see it the more I like it. I had a silver car before. I think the lower black grille needs to be painted to match the body to look right

Yes it is rare around my area.

It's rare in ANY area. I wish they didn't discontinue it in '05. I love it!

Burnt ember was an introductory color based on a similar shade Nissan used on their Datsun 240s of the early 1970s. It was not 'discontinued for 2005'; it was discontinued in July 2003, fully a year before the end of the '04 model run.
Coral sand and smoke were new colors as of February, 2004 (a year into the '04 production run). Champagne mist was dropped at that time.
Until recently, coral sand was the only color I did not see on a fairly regular basis in this area (other than on my dealer's lot; he seemed to always have a coral sand on hand). But I have seen three coral sands on the road within the past two weeks. I think it is a very nice shade of tan. In fact, I feel all the colors/shades offered on the 6th gen Maxima have been very well chosen.

I've had five Maxes...'87 se black; '91 se silver; '97 gxe blue; '01 gle champagne mist; '04 sl winter frost.
The '87 black was the sharpest looking when clean, but was impossible to maintain it's appearance in New England. I love my '04 Winter Frost...it exudes elegance.

I have the smoke, I really like you it shines when the sun hits it here. And after I install the sarona grille I just ordered, it will be a stand out. Of course it's a problem to keep it clean, but I do it every 3 days, so no biggie....
If I went with another color, it would be winter frost. Looks very elegant, and with the trenz grille it really stands up from the crowd.

I'm not too surprised by the results of the poll, with the exception of the fewer number of Smoke Max's than I would have expected. What the poll does not show is if the colors were totally by choice or some were because that is what the dealer had in stock with the options desired.
