Adding a monitor to dash

I finally decided to add a dvd navigation system to my car. But i dont want anything popping out the middle of my console. I want to add a monitor to where the orange led screen is on my dash but I dont know how smooth it would look and if there would be any fitting issues.

For tose who took out the stock orange screen and replaced it with a color monitor for a dvd/navi .. What screen would fit in that hole and look clean??? Any brands models etc would be appreciated?

Thanks

if you take out the lcd screen, how will you regulate things like the temperature control? Or all the system information from the car is diaplayed through there. (checking on ur tire rotation, oil change milage, Miles per gallon, unlocking the doors with one click or two, have the horn sound when u lock the doors or not, and etc.) I may be wrong, but I dont think its possible to remove that LCD monitor. Its a great idea, I wanted to do that as well, but Too many things are incorporated through there.

You can move the orange monitor as others have done down to the storage compartment opening behind the shifter.

Yeah, but does he have any other choice?????

He wanted to add the GPS monitor where the orange monitor is, but you have to have the orange monitor to control everything on the dash (heat, a/c, etc), and he doesn't want anything popping up on the dash.

So...tell me...what other options does he have????

Yep, to still have the computer functions...this is about all you can do.

Function looks fine to me. Now, about how to move the top console to the lower one and if it requires an extention to the stock cable....that is a different question.

haha very true guys.. and good question about if that cable needs to be extended. IF ANYONE KNOWS THAT ANSWER PLEASE DONT HOLD BACK......

I wanted to lower the orange screen to the bottom compartment so i didnt lose the information that screen controls. My question to all of you was what brand/model and size screen screen would fit in that hole on the top. where it would look smooth with out having to to any real custom work.

Yep...if you want the anwsers to that question, MAXXOUTT would be the man to give it to you. I have also seen a Kenwood double din integrated DVD player in the same place. Can be done...main thing is getting the upper screen in the lower compartment. If there is enough cable to move it down there on the stock screen.....you are hooked up.

Another image of one that almost looks like the Kenwood I was looking at:

Same thing, upper display moved to the lower pocket.

I just have a cheap set for the kid in the back seats and he can watch DVD, play video games and we can remove it easily. You can also look at visor monitors as well. Plenty of options, all about the $$$$ and what you want. Most of the DVD players in dash will not work while the car is in motion due to safety reasons. Can be rigged though with a handbrake trick or mod in most cases.

Hey Maximaman2004

If you do this, post how it turns out. I'm definitely interested in the second modification pictured.
