Rattle in Powered Rear Sun Shade

Has anyone with the Elite Package had a problem with the Powered Rear Sun Shade rattling when in the down position?

When lowering the shade it seems to go down very tight (no rattle) then after a few seconds in raises about 1/2", and then every little bump in the road causes a rattle?

Just got an 04 a year late (March 05), I am extremely dissapointed with the rattle on the rear deck from the shade. I haven't had the car back to the dealer yet.

I have an elite and my rattle comes from the high mounted stop light hitting the underside of the rear window - check to make sure that this is not where yours is coming from. You can pick up some black rubber cabinet bumpers at Lowes and place one on each of the upper corners of the light between it and the window so that there is constant pressure on the light assembly, and the rattle should go away. There is also a TSB for the rear window rattle that you should have the dealer do the next time you are at the shop.

Thanks for the input. I will try it. By the way, I checked out your pictures on Car Domain. Your car is awsome. I have a couple of questions for you.

1. What advantages do you get by changing the Air Intake? What did the
conversion cost? How long did it take.

2. Love the idea for the XM Roady. I have one, and have not installed it yet.
Mine did not come with a remote. I was thinking of installing it in the little
flip up box under the radio. Do you have any problems with your FM
modulator. I am constantly have to switch the frequency on mine do to
static. I prefer the tape adaptor, but the wire looks like sh_t.

Thanks in advance for any input you can give.

It (supposedly and arguably) adds HP by allowing the engine to breathe better by removing the restrictive air intake system and replacing it with a more open system. Adding a free flow exhaust system will enhance the HP (again supposedly and arguably) also. Cost for the Berk intake is $160 +/- and takes about an hour to install. I had mine done by my dealer. I have a great mechanic that does all my work, and he did it for me.

The second advantage to the intake is that it makes the Max sound really mean in the front end when you romp it...

I would agree that the Modulator can be somewhat problematic, especially in high stationed areas - in Omaha where you have a better chance at a clear channel to use, I have not had a problem with it at all. And you can get the remote for the radio here:

Let us know if the fix on the rattle works, and good luck with the Roady install - took me about 10 minutes, no wires to mess with, and simple to move from car to car if you so desire...

Thanks

Thanks for the input. I think I will switch out the air intake. I don't think i want to hassle with the exhaust.

I will let you know how everything works out
