Hi-low converter(car audio question)

Hello, everybody. I'm new everybody...I have a stock head unit..i recently installed my old amp and subs and i am disappointed about the performance cuz im used to the way it sounded in my old car....would it be the hi low converter depleting the power that the head unit is driving?? either way, the amp should be submitting the power right? I was wondering because im wondering if the investment of the metra dash kit and an after market head unit would be worth it....thanks!!

What are you using for the signal...are you tapping into the rear deck speakers. Where is the HIGH/LO pass installed..Is it in the amp or a seperate unit? I would make sure you have everything set up right. Did you confirm that the amp turns on with the radio? some thoughts.

I would try to use a PAC piece first. It gives you an rca out at the back of the radio. I haven't used a line out on these cars yet but, the Pac piece always seems to work fine for me.

The hi low converter will not give you any quality that an aftermarket radio will provide. If you know how a hi low converter works you should figure it out. All a high low converter does is "convert the high's from the signal of your speakers to a low frequency so that you can connect RCA's and run a low frequency subwoofer. You should try connecting the hi low converter from the back of the radio harness instead of the rear speakers.

try the wires coming out the rear of the radio, if not get a pre amp EQ...

I have two EQs, a 5 band and a 30 band.... and a crossover with it and sounds great..

At last I have time to work on installing my new Basslink.
I really don't want to take the console apart to tap on the wires that come from the back of the stereo, and I figure they go to the amp before distributing the signal to the speakers. I want to tap into those cables at the amp side, so that I have my two amps running in parallel, and just the power cable going through the whole car. What is the color code for the wires that I need to tap on??? I hope one of you guys has a way of pointing which wire is the one that goes from the stereo to the rear deck.

The subs on the rear deck have this connection:
- left (driver's) sub : white, black/gray
- right (pssgr's) sub : white, black/gray, black (higher gauge), yellow (higher gauge)

I was running the hi/lo converter for a while but once I replaced the HU and set it up right it sounded way better, of course. I still am running the stock bose and they sound much better once you can adjust the sound coming out of them...

Oh and welcome aboard!!!
