So sad...
Hey Guys,
Well, i am just writing to share some news. I recently installed aftermarket HID's on my car. I took it to a shop to have it done. Anyway, after the rain season, i found out that somewthing was wrong with my headlamps as moisture accumulated inside of the housing. At first, i thought it was because the bulb was not sealed correctly, well i took my car to the dealer where my best friend works (its about 45 miles away). and he had his guys check it out. apparently, the reason they had moisture is because the whole housing had been removed (the lamp was unsealed). I did not perform the HID installation myself, nor did i witness the conversion. My question is this, is it really necessary to unseal the lamp housing to perform an HID converion? If not, i am goin to raise some serious hell to the shop that unsealed my lamps, because now i have this moisture issue. Thanks for the help

damn, condensation sucks.... ok heres my input:
what type of hid did you get? what projectors, etc?
a member here, had his stock halogen converted to hid with audi projectors, he had his housing removed... here is the link to that http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hid+conversion
as for me... I have a stock max, with halogen. i purchased a set of smashed up headlights from a junk yard. I took out the headlight, I opened the cap that holds the bulb in, unscrewed the 4 screws on the inside and then twisted and yanked the old halogen projector out. I then inserted the hella projectors (since there are smaller than the halogen, they fit right in) So I have converted to HID and NO, I did not have to remove the housing.
take it back and let them reseal the housing for you.

I have stock headlights, non Xenon...and my stock drivers side headlight had moisture in it bad. This was at around 3500 miles. Just something to consider. Now if your custom job was not sealed that well, could be either the job, or the stock headlight not being sealed. Where is the moisture at. Mine was in the front top left of the drivers light. Replaced by Nissan. Now no problems.....bad stock seal.

my xenon bulb conversion on my old hooptie went super condensation bad. ended up rusting the entire inside of my headlights. that was fun splicing the oem light wiring back on.
this is why so many Max owners across generations are fearfull of opening them to mod.

Is there a junk yard around where you can get a really cheap pair of damaged assemblies for practice? Heck does not even need to be Maxima head lights, as long as they are chrome and you can practice on them.
