Poster joemax1 sent me a personal message via this board Wednesday telling me his CD player stopped for about 30 seconds, then resumed. It was shortly after he started the car on a 30 degree morning. He lives in NY also.

Sounds like the same problem.

Same problem for me. When I told my dealer, he said no problem he'll order another for me. He didn't even check it.

Yeah, mine's doing the same thing too. I have yet to take it to the dealer though. I don't think I will have a problem with them replacing it.

I have an 2005 and have not experienced this problem yet. However, according to the owner's manual this is expected: "During cold weather or rainy days, the player may malfunction due to the humidity. If this occurs, remove the CD and dehumidify or ventilate the player completely.".

I have a 2005 SL. We have had some cold days/nights here, and I have not experienced the problems you mentioned, even when heading out on a quite cold morning. The owners manual warning makes me think the issue could be condensation on the laser mechanism/lens that must "burn" (evaporate) off for the CD player to work properly.

This wasnt the problem though, because once the dealer swapped the unit, it never happened again, even in sub-zero weather..before the cd's wouldnt play when it was 40

Well, it isn't the first time and won't be the last time that my speculation was incorrect. At any rate, I'm glad you have a working unit now.

Did you ever find out what the problem with the original unit was?
