DVD & CD Cold weather Issue
#4
Poster joemax1 sent me a personal message via this board Wednesday telling me his CD player stopped for about 30 seconds, then resumed. It was shortly after he started the car on a 30 degree morning. He lives in NY also.
Sounds like the same problem.

I have an 2005 and have not experienced this problem yet. However, according to the owner's manual this is expected: "During cold weather or rainy days, the player may malfunction due to the humidity. If this occurs, remove the CD and dehumidify or ventilate the player completely.".

I have a 2005 SL. We have had some cold days/nights here, and I have not experienced the problems you mentioned, even when heading out on a quite cold morning. The owners manual warning makes me think the issue could be condensation on the laser mechanism/lens that must "burn" (evaporate) off for the CD player to work properly.

Did you ever find out what the problem with the original unit was?
