Squeaking While Backing Up

Ok when I back up while holding the brakes(neighbor who is 70 parks half the car on my driveway), the brakes start squeaking. Is this normal while backing up on the 6th Gen?

not normal

I don't think your sound is normal. My car does not make this sound. You should get your brakes checked out soon. As far as I recall, your symptom has not been mentioned on other posts on this site.

Good luck.

my 04 did something similar for a while, it seems like it squeaks when the max hasn't been driven all night. after a little bit of driving the squeaking goes away.

yeah i get that also, I just think its the fact that the car wasnt driven for a little while, after a quick ride to the first stop sign on my corner the squeak goes away.

Mine will do this to on some mornings when backing out of the garage. But by the time I get to the end of the driveway and into the street it's gone. I've tried to pay attention to the weather conditions and if it rained the night before so the brakes were wet overnight or something like that. But there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it. FWIW, this happens on the Murano too occasionally.

It only happens to me when the brakes are cold and the car's been sitting over night. Applying the brakes one or two times gets rid of the sound. No big deal, but I haven't had a chance to check the pads yet.

This started happening to me as soon as it got cold too. A little squeak or two when I'm backing out of the driveway, but doesn't happen again through the day.

The first time it happened I thought it was the pads, and I took the car to the dealership to have them checked out (car only had 10k miles, wasn't supposed to be doing that just yet ). Turned out they were at least 65%, so I assumed it was normal. Weird feeling though... and it still happens every morning.
