Does it actually work for you? It seems like it does absolutely nothing for me. As an example, I295 and the NJ turnpike run just about parallel to eachother. There are a lot of places I go where taking the turnpike vs the interstate only would save you like a mile on a 20mi trip at best. Despite that, the nav unit keeps routing through the turnpike every single time I need to go that direction instead of the interstate regardless if the option is checked or not. It's almost like the unit refuses to acknowledge the interstate is even there (which it is on the maps of course).

Being NJ though, I wouldnt put it past them that they somehow worked a deal so the nav unit would do that on purpose, to collect a little extra coin.

It's a checkbox in the same list where you select shortest route or shortest time and all. Just check the box to turn it on or off just like selecting short menus, map view, and everything else that uses em. It appears to be pretty worthless though. Maybe (hopefully) newer versions will include minor changes in the way it calculates routes rather then just map data eventually.

you're right. I295 and the NJ Turnpike are pretty parallel to each other. I have never used that option before, but i'm glad you brought it up. I think I'll give it a shot, the next time I have to go somewhere south of where I live.

It won't matter. Soon, I-295 in Jersey is slated for 35 cent toll booths every two miles. They're going to call it "The Garden State Parkway."
