Winter rims

Anyone wanna give me a little insight on how cheap I can go on rims for this car? Is 17" the smallest wheel you can put on it? Id like to get the cheapo black steel wheel, like on a police car. Anyone got any links to somewhere I can get these? Tirerack's winter packages come with fancier rims than Id care to get for snow. Im basically wonderin how small of a tire you can go on the 6th gen.

Yeah, just thinking ahead as I will be getting the much praised Eagle F1's. Pretty pumped considering I drove a taurus with General AmeriG4s for 3 years ($49 tire) So in 8mo. or so I gotta get something to get these F1's off the road when the snow hits. I gotta look around for the cheapest 17" rims out there. Open to any suggestions.

04BlackMaxx - Why go cheap on winter tires especially in Buffalo? That's when you want the best traction you can get. Cheap tires...bad traction...30K dollar car banged up due to cheap tires. Remember....you get what you pay for.

I said cheap on rims. The RSA's MSRP for $265, you dont always get what ya pay for, I got split sidewalls. I found a pkg on tires.com $846 with delivery using $86 rims and goodyear LS tires. I figured if I could get steel rims instead of alloy I'd spend more for better tires. But I dont think they make a 17" steel wheel for the max, as far as I can find.

Hi there,

If you want to save for next year winter tires look at this ebay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7952291563

I've just bought a set this week, already received them.
GREAT tires for an unbeatable price.

I live in Montreal and saw a few Maxima with these and after much good reviews from
the owners decided to go with these too.

As for the black steel rims just go to an auto parts they shouldn't be very expensive.

This was my first winter with the Hankook W300 tires and I was not impressed. They are great on dry road and water but no good in heavy snow or in very cold conditions (very slipery).

Part of the problem might be with the car itself which is low to the ground and those tires are too wide for winter but you are limited in terms of size with the Max.

I dont think it is possible to get 17' steel rims anywhere. when I searched, "No" was the answer I got.

Canadianmofo got those rims after a very extensive search in a local shop. I dont think we can be that lucky...

Better option would be to buy some cheapo from Ebay or discounttire

Yah if you have an 03 Altima. The 04+ Maxima brake calipers are too large to fit into a 16" wheel. A 17" is the minimum.
