H&R vs. Eibach

H&R vs. Eibach...Just noticed stillen is now selling H&R...2,.8 for the Eibach and some say the rear is then too low...this kit takes the rear down 1.3"..and just 1.4" in the front...this dosent sound right. I thought H&R is a better company too? Its German, so it has to be right?

technically Eibachs quote for 1.3" and 1.4" is a rough estimate. Youll probably get a drop from 1.6 and 1.7. I got the prokit for my prelude and it was estimated 1.5 inch drop but it ended up being 1.8 once everything settled in.

I think both of them are going too low for the rear. it almost looks like the rear tucks from factory and the front is bout 2'' above the wheel.. if you go dropping the car as the springs quote, you will never get the car level... some people have dropped the car on the front only with eibachs and the rear is still slightly lower..

I would do the front only just to get the front almost even with the rear.. I've seen pics of it looks good.... it would only work for the SE guys though cause we have those tighter rear springs and over the SL...

So can you buy only the front springs and back ones with the same compression constant but without any drop??

well what people are doing is just dropping the front and leaving the rear as is.. I dunno bout aftermarket springs for the rear without a drop.. unless you get the SE ones since you have a SL..

It would be nice if you could BUY only the front springs, I agree, the rear does not need a drop. BTW if anyones got pix of a front only drop, drop um in this thread.

Wont this cause the car to "ride" funny? Like when going over bumps, or when making a sharp turn, wont the car tend to take take longer to level? It seems as though it would cause somewhat of an unstable flowing motion.

this member said he had no problems or anything like that... but remember that us SE guys have a stiffer suspention compaired to you SL guys... you have a floaty rear spring we don't.. so we wouldn't have that prob..

what I suggest to you is to get a SE rear springs and drop the front with eibachs...

Good question Cozz,

Thats what I really want to know. Whats the truth on you guys that have done the drop? Are you really glad you did it, or having a hard time admitting it was a mistake?

I have seen alot of posts about people having sqeaks and popping and scraping all the time. Is it worth it, does everyone have this?

I want to drop mine, as it looks awesome, and I hate my gap, but I would like to hear if its REALLY worth it. I just got my struts replaced, and am hesitant to do anything up there. Its finally QUIET after almost a year!!

bigcozz, it depends on where you live. we both live in NYC, brooklyn to be exact. the streets out here suck big time. I wanted to go with larger wheels and/or drop the front, but I believe I'll ruin the car. so I'm staying stock. If I ever get out of Brooklyn, maybe then I can do these things.

Yeah Id like to drop the front liek korean max's...but if it comes at the expense of smoothness and quietness...ill pass. Do 20" with no drop look awful?

I'm interested. I love the nice ride of the sl but the front fender gap is awful. If I could adjust the drop myself it would really set the max off!!

04 maxse I have the Eibach lowering springs with 18" rims and in NYC with the messed up streets sometimes the ride is so so. When I get on the turnpikes the ride is great. I think that your ride is noisy because you also have 20" rims. If you still have the 18" rims put them on and see if your ride is better. Later Warren

ramberg-

he's not talking about the tire noise from 20" rims. 04 maxse and i have the same suspension set up koni/front kyb/rear and we're experiencing clunking sound when we go over certain bumps. the shocks aren't blown because i took it apart numerous times. we just can't figure out where the noise is coming from.

How much lower would the price go if you could get 10 people to buy the D2 coilovers?
